JLC Navy Seals, civilian report and photos

 By: Guille : June 27th, 2010-08:22
The JLC Navy Seals event was a once in a lifetime experience that reminded the commitment of the manufacture to excellence and purpose. This is the "unclassified" civilian report, really just some notes and iPhone pics as I came along the way. A very big ...

Wow!

Guille, this is just so cool, I can't stand it! What a great experience you had getting this particular watch. I love the presentation box and accessories. Perhaps this is a good sing that JLC is upping their game with respect to presentation of their wat...

Thanks for sharing, G!

Hey Guille, you look good with the automatic strapped! Seth at the JLC Boutique was gracious to send my buddy Adam (craniotes) and I the package on Wednesday. The dude was so accommodating throughout the entire process. My cap off to him and the Boutique....

Great post my friend

Seems that you had big fun, Guille. Thanks for sharing this unique experience. Best, Nicolas

This communication doesn't speak to me.

This mix between a Military Training Camp and a social event makes me think about the pictures of the holidays of a comic opera army. I don't think it is positive for the image of a prestigious manufacture like JLC. When you do something related with the ...

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course...

 By: craniotes : June 27th, 2010-15:21
While I'm sure that more than one battle-hardened SEAL had a private chuckle at the expense of the country club set having a go at their facilities, I fail to see how this association cheapens the manufacture or one of our country's foremost elite fightin...

Very impressive!

 By: sainayar : June 27th, 2010-17:29
Thanks for sharing that incredible experience. As one who has always been fascinated by the dedication and discipline of the Navy SEAL's your adventure is certainly enviable. I have always been interested in the history of the Navy SEAL's and have read ab...

Fantastic!

Are you also going for an Incursion? If not, which model did you choose? Regards, Adam

The point of this collaboration.....

 By: DRMW : June 27th, 2010-19:04
Hello foversta! I believe that Manufacturer JLC wanted to produce a functional, durable yet reliable wristwatch that is able to withstand extreme conditions in real world conditions. What better partnership to fulfill this objective than with the best mos...

I confess to be guilty on the charge of...

 By: Ruckdee : June 27th, 2010-21:35
...having considered the collaboration a marketing gimmick. I held that thought until I saw the few recent threads here a couple of days ago. But that didn't prevent me from liking this series of watches for their aesthetics alone in the first place. The ...

They have interesting things at the Navy SEALs Museum in Florida. If you call them up or stop by make sure you tell Rolf Snyder that Dr. Woo says hello! -MW

The museum might be interesting...

 By: BDLJ : June 28th, 2010-21:48
...but the SEAL store is just plain embarassing. That's one of the reasons why I don't really get this association/partnership - it's not a million miles away from the rubbish on that site...

I can relate to your point about this unconventional combination.

 By: Ruckdee : June 27th, 2010-21:31
And the part when you said "serious message". Actually I had a similar although less intense feeling when first viewing the pics. But I have to say I agree with Adam (craniotes) on most points he raised also. So let's keep it positive and see how JLC and ...

Nor me - actually in fact it does

By: Velociphile - No longer in the building : June 28th, 2010-09:48
but in a profoundly negative way. And we are obviously not alone. Is no one prepared to talk about the elephant in the room here? Are JLC management now descended that far into Groupthink they are coming up with this? I accept the need for the military

You may add another voice to the "choir of complaint" ..

 By: sw-rick : June 29th, 2010-00:55
I was really hoping that they stepped down (and away from) on the NS marketing ... I really love the diving alarm, but a regular production model without the "co-branding" is something which is clearly and sorely missing from the catalogue. Rick

Wonderful!

Guille, thank you so much for taking the time to share you experiences with us in words and pictures. Oh, what I would've done to be there as well, but between work, kids, and over 3,000 miles of geographical separation it simply wasn't an option. Of cour...

Hello Guille! Thanks for sharing the pics. It was cool to see you and your friend at the dinner event on the Hotel Del Coronado lawn. How do you like your new JLC? -MW

Excellent post Guille....

It was truly and amazing experience… I’m glad I was able to share it with some old and new friends.

How privileged you are to be a part of that program.

Thank you for sharing and for taking the time to explain what is what. I am now officially green with envy. Ruckdee

BOLD & INNOVATIVE

 By: foowy : June 28th, 2010-02:56
Thank you for the report. Great pics. This is a fantastic move for JLC. I think is it a BOLD and INNOVATIVE one. True to Brand itself. BOLD because this relationship will test their commitment to delivering "horological war machines" onto the wrists of th...

You probably dislike my opinion

 By: Starman : June 28th, 2010-11:05
The watches look great and I love JLC in general, but this Navy Seal thing is not for me. So JLC likes to be associated with war, killing and death. Yeah sure, these guys are only defending, but excuse me; no guns no war you know. But hell you have to giv...

Hello Starman!

 By: DRMW : June 28th, 2010-12:14
Hello Starman! I appreciate your opinion and respect it very much. The Navy SEALs IMO are NOT just about guns, war, etc.. and I don't want it to get political so I'll use this example: There people out there who associate expensive watches as needlessly e...

I sure understand what you mean

 By: Starman : June 28th, 2010-13:18
And I think it fits well in a strategy to market your brand as being though, sturdy and reliable. But so is Rolex, which was, and probably is, used by many soldiers cause of it being a reliable companion in the hardest of occasions. This doesn't mean you ...

Yes...

 By: DRMW : June 29th, 2010-10:11
Some of the SEALs were wearing the pieces they've had all year. Surprisingly the PVD coating has held up extremely well. One had the lume dot on the bezel come off due to the watch getting smashed on a steel gate door during a breeching maneuver. However ...

What do the Seals do?

 By: aikiman44 : June 29th, 2010-12:52
If you're only association of the Seal Teams is killing, then you're uneducated about their many activities. That's not surprising; this is true for most of the American public who receive their information from TV and movies. There are Seal Teams in many...

 By: Starman : June 30th, 2010-14:11
First I am not an American, so excuse me for being "uneducated". Once more; just look at the pictures which are posted, we talk about serious weapons here which sure aint no toys. Sure I know that countries have to be defended and in certain conditions of...

Hello Starman!

 By: DRMW : June 30th, 2010-15:27
I have a video of Jerome Lambert that might help explain the decision to form this relationship. Please be patient as I upload it takes some time. I wish all of the JLC fans were in attendance with me to fully understand all that went behind this project....

Thanks, looking forward to see it [nt]
