And the "second group" pictures....
Nov 06, 2004,02:14 AM
Hi all,
the so called "second group" visited the several departements in different order - so, he times/dates of visit differed from the first group.
On the way to the "decorative finish departement" we passed by some small openings in the wall:
When building this new part of the factory, an Atmos clock was inserted in a small space in the wall - the small round openings are for a minimum ventilation/temperature exchange, but enough to make it work!
The small show case explains what is done in this departement, perlage, machine engraving, diamond turning, Geneva stripes.....
Some previously finished and plated bridges and plates are checked for quality here.
No it's getting more serious, Carl gets his first lesson in perlage, Lawrence observing the spectacle....
Tim (velociphile) doing his very best to get a nice perlage pattern.
Tim Howes
Andrew Mc Ewen higly concentrated
Elena, left and Lawrence at work
Mitch Katz in the middle of his new colleagues...
These mainplates were rejected by QC, some of the perlage pattern areas will be corrected now by this most charming and beautifull lady:
Some of the parts are redone and replated afterwards to match the high standards of JLC.
On this small, but extremely rigid lathe, some bridges are "diamond turned" - this leaves a brilliant shining surface, perfectly polished with extremely sharp angles/edges. The slightest vibration would cause excessive marks on the surface and the piece would be lost. Therefore utmost care is necessary and the machinery needs to be first class...
This gentlemen is adjusting a small computer controlled vertical lathe which cuts out an inner section of the previously diamond turned inner rotating bezels of a "Compressor" (left part is unworked, the right one is finished)
Best regards
