I love your comparison with the Corvettes.
They were, the Futurematic, very interesting, technically speaking, with a stop second, and this permanent power reserve which allows the movement to restart again, when you set the time before putting it on your wrist.
It was also an accurate movement.
I don't know, though, if the Corvettes had the same virtues, at that time...
