I confess I am greedy.
Jul 01, 2011,22:12 PM
In addition, I can perfectly live with the order of things as you have set them out.
TT's to Geophysique and Futurematic would definitly be my dream world.
Best regards,
George

Futurematic E 502, so called Porthole.
By: amanico : July 1st, 2011-00:55
I already made a review on the Futurematic, and, of course, I quickly mentionned one of the most curious, the Ref E 502, which is pictured above. Let me spend some more time on this reference, now that I have the opportunity to have one nice specimen for ...
OMG.. Really so nice.. & 1 out of 10.. :)
By: hs111 : July 1st, 2011-02:20
Well, Nicolas .. - thank you for this educative and pleasant post; also highlighting the subtle differences, which so far had escaped me, apart from the "portholes" themselves and the famous "f " in the Futurmatic writing, - Somehow like ' From where we c...
L'amour.. Par distance , á cette moment .. BUT ..
By: hs111 : July 1st, 2011-07:10
1/ this distance may change - when ? .. in the Future 2/ just also might indicate, that after my next upcoming goals and hopes, - I might also have to look for .. a promising nice one of those ( E 501 ?) ;-) Characteristics of love ? - the Stories never e...
The Porthole is - without a doubt - one of my favorite JLCs...
By: watchme : July 1st, 2011-07:59
and one piece I'd like to see them bring back. Only this time, instead of a setting crown on the back, 2 correctors on the side: one for minutes, one for hours. No crown means a lefty or righty wristwatch! JLC could easily pull it off - they would need to...
A technical defy.
By: amanico : July 1st, 2011-08:44
But what they were able to do in the fifties can easily be done nowadays.... It is also an aesthetical defy. Thr Futurematic was a very elegant watch, the new one ( if ever it is in JLC plans ) has to keep this natural beauty. Best, Dean. Nicolas.
Porthole… Yes, please! :)
By: blomman Mr Blue : July 1st, 2011-08:14
Thank you for a great “quick view”, Nicolas! I agree with you that the E 501 looks more classic but as you say the E 502 are more fun! Maybe one day make a pair..? Best, my friend Blomman
A pair, for sure.
By: amanico : July 1st, 2011-08:45
It is some 3 or 4 years I have this project in my mind. Seems that we share some common greediness. Best, Nicolas.
If you look up the word…
By: blomman Mr Blue : July 2nd, 2011-04:14
If you look up the word “greediness” in a dictionary you will find a picture of us! Best Blomman PS. And if you check the phrase “I want them all” you will see my smiling face without any explanation - because no explanation needed!
the futurematic is a watch that is hard to resist
By: georgeszaslavsky : July 1st, 2011-19:55
The futurematic combines elegance and ingeniosity from the golden era of jlc.Great functionnality and reliability make of this watch a real nice daily wearer congrats and enjoy your watch best regards georges
My dream
By: grigo : July 1st, 2011-22:08
is that next year JLC come out with a TT Futurematic. Best regards, George
Well, to be honest...
By: amanico : July 1st, 2011-22:09
I would prefer the Geophysic, first. Then the Futurematic. Are we that greedy? Best, Nicolas.
I confess I am greedy.

Add that one to my list too.
By: grigo : July 1st, 2011-22:24
That is what is so great about JLC's past, it gives us so much to look forward to for the future. We all count on you to help JLC with their reflexions on how to move fortward on their next TT's, you guys work so well together. Best regards, George
Triple YES for a Tribute to Geophysic !:))
By: hs111 : July 2nd, 2011-00:37
Yup, indeed - such a continuation of the Tributes- Series and philosophy, with the Geophysic - that really would be awesone and - iconic again.. Well, (after September or so) , I guess I'd better start saving, because one way or another there will be very...
Oui, tres heureux, Je suis dejá.. :))
By: hs111 : July 2nd, 2011-01:09
You are so very right, sometimes this year tends to make me dizzy, - maybe because fate, friends and Vlad/666 are turning some sort of a Caroussell, But a very nice dizziness, I can tell you and as you so very well know.. So there is always a good reason ...
I realize that you may not be able...
By: gatorcpa : July 2nd, 2011-10:30
...to show us a picture of the exquisite cal. 817 movement. The European JLC E-series cases can be difficult to open and reseal properly. However, with a little creative web surfing, you can find this one out there: BTW, the one above is not mine. My exam...
Yes, gatorcpa, I was not brave enough to open it. Good guess.
By: amanico : July 2nd, 2011-10:38
So a big thank you for posting a picture of the Cal 817, which is not different from the other correct but rarer movement, the P 837. Yes, I heard the same rumor, which was confirmed to me by the Heritage Gallery, bvy the way. I love your comparison with ...
Hmm.. Corvettes - I like that ! .. Further to this..
By: hs111 : July 2nd, 2011-21:22
That sounds pretty tricky, not only to open but apparently to service such a fine tuned marvel, as Nicolas had noted. If I may further ask: 1/ - What are the specific differences between the cal 817 and 837 ? - both used for the Portholes, I somehow have ...
Maybe Gatorcpa has an answer for question One.
By: amanico : July 2nd, 2011-22:53
I must confess that I didn't get the difference between the 2 movements, my guess being that it is very tiny. As for question 2, accuracy is below 10 secs per day, on the few I tested. Best, Nicolas.
We learn every day, hs...

JLC History is so rich that it is the topic of one entire life. Maybe even several, which is good when you're Vlad. Best, Nicolas.
The differences...
By: gatorcpa : July 3rd, 2011-12:20
... between the cals. 497 and 817 are only a few parts related to the conversion of dials to disks: I think the only differences between the cal. 817 and the 827/837 are the colors of the power reserve indicator (#9500 above) and the engraved number on th...
Difference between 817 and 837 correct?
By: donald_d : January 16th, 2012-01:21
Hello Nicolas and all It's with big interest that I read various sources in the net and this forum about the differences between cal 817 and 837. And I truly thank you all for your enthusiasm in collecting so much valuable information under one roof. Some...

By: Ilja : January 16th, 2012-04:37
I own a P837 only thing I can confirm: the power reserve indicator is dark blue. So the colour is not the difference. Only it seems US-market port holes have red indicator while European indicators are blue. Ilja
Thanks indeed :-)
By: donald_d : January 17th, 2012-10:58
Thanks indeed, Ilja, for your information. Since I've never seen a picture of a P837-movement (and couldn't find one of those so far): Could you publish a picture of your P837-movement where the signatures are visible or indicate the whereabouts of such a...
THAT was an excellent & kind answer.. So educative, thanks !
By: hs111 : July 3rd, 2011-13:09
It really does help and is more than interesting, as well . -- Thank you so much for taking this kind effort ! This aids in understanding these amazing marvels. What I increasingly realize among other things, is the technical and estethic delicacy of thes...
Very nice pair!
By: Marv : July 2nd, 2011-15:33
The porthole is very attractive, moreover in the very nice condition as in your case. The sub-disks (half colored for the power reserve ; rotating arrow for the second) remind me the recent diving collection where JLC chose to use a half-colored and rotat...
Stunning, Bernard!
By: blomman Mr Blue : July 3rd, 2011-10:49
You are even “worse” then me – so far the most I have is a triplet of a watch… It must be great to see them all live at the same time! Have you given them names yet..? Best Blomman
thanks
