Update - They came back and said if I wanted to they can still service the old movement. They just cannot give it the 2 year warranty.

I opted to go with the upgraded movement. This was a grail watch for me and I don’t plan on selling it so if it does take a hit on the price I am okay with it. I plan to wear this watch for a very long time and would prefer a movement that I know can be serviced and by JLC for an extended period of time. The cost of replacement the movement is the same as the service cost so no additional cost.

New movement for Extreme Lab 2
By: Clementkc : April 12th, 2024-06:11
I sent my Extreme lab 2 into service at JLC. The one that I have currently is one of the ones that has the black bridges. I just heard back from JLC that in order to service the movement, they need to replace the full movement with the new lighter colored...
That would hurt

Indeed you don't have a choice.

Anyways, you'll get basically a completely new and better watch. Will it lose value in the secondary market? It's a JLC, that's a given unfortunately. Is this is a pic of the watch with the clear bridges? ...
That are real shocking news!

I have the same watch and the black movement was my buy criteria! Have looked many times at the brighter version, but it has so much less appeal. An absolute no go for me. And why do they need to change the movement, when it only runs too fast??? Really i...
What do they charge?

I can't imagine a whole movement cost to replace 😬 vs a few thousand to service. Are they subsidizing it at service cost because it's kind of a big gaf that JLC, especially with all the price increases, can't service a watch that's 13 years old 🤷♂️ will ...
