Well well,
I ve tried it and played with it at the wonderful Paris Boutique a couple of days ago.
A watch to see live definitely. The essence of the Duometre line is well kept,my main concer really,.
The smooth round bezel of the Duo aQL 40.5 ,goes well with the bigger case,a nice, smooth well contained case that gives a good feeling on the wrist.still it could be a mm thinner and that will make it even better but even like this I don t mind it.
A clever watch:so not only with crown in pos 2 you have the classical feature of dual time watches, when both the minute hands move together to set the times, but you can on pos 1 set a different time of your choice......I like the fact that anyway the typical feature of a dual time watch is kept ,in case you are not fussed about setting a different time on the dual time dial.
The second timezone setting (on demand)is super cool and the interesting point of this UTT,great concept.I don t know what this is really, definitely a dual time( a sophisticated one with the possibility to create a second time zone on demand and set it to he minute),I am not sure about a classical World timer.......I think a world timer watch gives you the information(timezones)automatically and at a glance ,where here you create your own......so?Not A WT 100% but a different way to interpret it.
The dial is clean and pleasant, the copper domed earth disc is nice and create a great effect, day and night very cool too.
I still don t understand fully the need to set your GMT at the bottom and sync it to your own GMT on the subdial...I think its because than you have a reference for the World time timetable engraved on the back?
Anyway great creation, great dial(DUO DNA)....Interested to see a future RG version as I find this one a touch but only a tuch too cold...well I can live with it dont get me wrong!A Rg version would be great with rg applied numerald and hands to match the RG tones on the Earth disc at the bottom(maybe with a light slate grey grained dial?only dreaming).
A feature that I don t like much is the engraved caseback..too busy and thick but you couldn t do it in any other way.
Price wise....well a bit too much IMO...but maybe because we areused to the Duometre prices.....still for the same price I would get the Chrono......
A very interesting watch....who knows maybe we will cross path one day in the future.....a watch I will consider,,in time.
