[quote] From a strict marketing perspective, I have little doubt that your idea would be appealing. However, being something of a purist (no pun intended), I'd prefer that they not associate any such contemporary model with the iconic Geophysic. Perhaps a new Geomatic would be the perfect compromise... [unquote]
Well, IMHO, the "modern Geomatic" has already been re-issued back in the 1990's - the Master Control that is - so, I don't really see how a new "geomatic" could be re-issued (appart from re-naming a watch with the Geomatic name).
1990's master Control has about every features ot the original Geomatic in a more modern case : Automatic, anti-magnetic, chronometric with date, even down to the Geo-logo seal on the caseback !
So, I think the Geomatic has already been re-issued.
Now, that still leaves some space for a Geophysic re-issue....
A true manual-wound, chronometric, fine movement, with archaic stop-lever second-hack feature but top-notch finish with a plain dial with appled numbers (and in a 38-39mm sized case).
That would get my vote for sure
