Mine would be...

1. Gyrotourbillon- this expression of technological tour de force by a major manufacturer is too often overlooked. The combination of all the complications present plus the design genius of Megalli M makes this a clear pole winner in my list. As such, pieces like these generate very little actual cash/profit for the company and yet to think that JLC chose to allocate some of their budget to actually produce this is testament to their capacity and position as one of the few complete Manufacture in the watch industry today. A horological wonder for JLC...

2. MMR- these have pretty much shattered the stronghold on this complication by the other houses. With its modern look, innovative choice of material, (titanium anyone?), pairing it with practical solutions (15 day power reserve/dynamograph) to usual repeater dilemmas and one is left wondering why don't all repeaters come out this way. A modern take on a classic complication.

3. Reverso XGT Sun Moon- the slight change in size from the older Reversos says that JLC has its ear to the ground when it comes to what people want from them. JLC fans usually don't like to be shocked but instead, to be taken in slowly... hence the introduction of this piece FIRST before the coming of the Squadras...

4. AmVox 2- one of the more innovative chronographs in the market today. Again, another technological marvel by JLC. Activation of chronograph function by tapping the face of the watch? Slightly Iphone-like in its interface and more so in being at the forefront of changing people's perception of how things can be done.

5. Duometer- another marvel from JLC. Technically superior aspects aside, one wonders if JLC will be successful in this one touting the YG variant as the limited edition of the metals to be produced. I for one can't wait to find outsmile

Only 5 because these are ones I feel an affinity with since these pieces were the ones in production when I first became enthralled with JLC and as such, are the scope of what I have seen AND liked at JLC. I am sure JLC has a treasure trove in its past but am quite satisfied with these smile

While spending a lot of time in the JLC catalogues from the past years, I was amazed by the quantity and the diversity of the models, variations, and complications JLC offered or still offers. Then I had the idea to make a selection of the 10 nicest or mo...

Was sure you will write this! LOL Of course, instead of a 70eme or a Reverso Tourbi skeleton, you might add one of the 6 Reverso LE in Rose gold... But I'd have to create a top 12 instead of a top ten... I already have in my selection 2 Reversos... A matt...

I guess it's somehwat natural to pick a lot of big dollar and highly complicated pieces for your list as this is the expression of the "art" of watchmaking. Personally I would not have as many of these complicated or expensive watches in my list. For me J...

That surprises me, too

 By: respo : February 26th, 2008-07:42
Although I have always heard that the chrono is among the most challenging complications for watch manufacturers, I did not realize it was more difficult than the perpetual. I wonder why prices generally undermine this conclusion. respo

Marketting, maybe ?
