Can't agree more with you, my friend.

I also saw, once again, the MUTs...

This is nice to see that at this level of price, there are some very tempting watches, indeed.

Thanks for your input, my friend.

Best,

Nicolas

The Master Control, a link between the Past and the Present

Here 's a watch we don't often speak about, the Master Control. The simplest JLC Watch ( after the MUTs, of course ) has certainly a lot of appeal and charm! It also has an interest, as its predecessor, the Master Grande Taille, was, in 1992, the first to...

Master Control...

I love this watch for a number of reasons; It's classsic beauty, it's simplicity, it's gorgeous brushed dial and not least it's very accesible price point. I don't own one currently, but it sings to me every time I see it and I feel sure I will own it one...

You're right, David

I liked the 'old' Master Classic a bit more than the new

 By: Clavi : March 3rd, 2009-02:13
I find the 'recent' Master Clontrol slightly less attractive than the previous master classic, as they achieved the intended increase in size mainly by making the rim (smooth bezel) thicker. That takes a bit of the elegance of, I think. It remains a nice ...

I concur.

That's why I would like to see a New Master Control

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2009-00:27
With a thinner bezel and modified lugs, Clavi, like on the new Master Home Time. The case of the Grande Ultra Thin is superb, too, but to me, it is not the heir of the Géomatic, as this last one had a central second, not a small one. But I agree on the fa...

Yes, a revised Master Control would be fantastic

I came close to owning one a couple years ago, but something was just not quite right for me. A thinner bezel and more refined looking dial would be wonderful. I'd even be happy if they scaled back the size to 39 mm. One can dream I took a close look at t...

Thanks Nicolas, this watch has been on my mind for a couple weeks as I search for an understated, thin dress watch. I think a grey or navy strap would look smart on this watch. I just wish they made a version with a rutheniam dial. Although I like the bou...

Great post!

I have long considered the MC as "the purists" watch. Only the necessary details are positond (time + date) for the perfect watch for any non-sport occasion. My personal preference is to have it on a NAVY strap, which accentuates the blue seconds hand. -D...

thanks

Thank you very much this useful review. The black dial version is awsome !

Thanks a lot Nico.

In a few words: I don't like the "daughter"... and when we compare it with the mother... The bezel is too thick for an elegant watch, it's a pity. Fr.Xavier

Master Watch indeed Nicolas...

great post and nice pics. A "simple" watch with lot of charm and beauti itself. The WG version is really a watch to think about it... the pic is awesome and the watch is elegant, impressive and its dial and configuration is simple nice. The mother had nic...

Was on my wish list

But I also liked the old classic MC more so I chose the RDM instead. Hope to run into a good MC 38mm one day cause the pictures of Clavi are definitely mouth watering. Still I consider the newest MC a great watch and it does look superb with the black dia...

This one is on my wrist right now, thin and light, I prob. wear it more than my more complicated pieces.

Interesting, Moses

both are very nice and classic watch...

 By: FanFrancisco : March 4th, 2009-04:43
thanks Nic for this interesting post. my son is just sitting besides me, both of us think that both goematic and MC are very nice watch, but he personally prefers the hour hands of MC : > stefan

as much as i like the unusual i'm still drawn towards these new classics

 By: G99 : March 4th, 2009-12:53
whether i prefer the classic classic or the new classic is hard to say. i 'think' the thinner bezel is nicer, but i'd need to see them in the flesh together. best Graham

I see, Stefan, you're trying to drive your son into watch madness?

He has nice taste , BTW! The Dauphine hands of the MC are certainly more legible than the thin hands of the Géomatic, for sure. Wait a bit, I'm ending a review on the Géomatic, my friend,... Best, Nicolas
