My very personal list of the 10 nicest / more representative watches by JLC
(in alphabetical order):
· Chronometre Geophysic – for its fabulous P478/BWS/br handwound movement
(I wish JLC had made use of fully adjusted movements with swan neck regulators more often)
· Duometre a Chronographe – for its simple no nonsense approach to the old chrono problem
(assuming that it works) and the very nice unmodern design
· Futurematic – be it porthole or subdial version for having a perfectly balanced watch
by dropping the winding crown and for being technically superbly (and believing in it)
· Gyrotourbillon – no reasoning needed
· Master Minute Repeater – for the innovative crystal gong (titanium version preferred)
· Memovox E855 (with dauphine hands, like the first pictured by Marv) – a watch that JLC
will be known for most likely (next to the Reverso) and which was the design predecessor of
the Master Control series. (Opted against the Polaris here, as the regular Memovox would
be much more representative, eg known to the public.)
· Pocketwatch with Cal. 145 – for the ultra flat movement (once a watchmakers goal)
· Reverso Tourbillon – out of the GT size red gold limited series. I think we have to include
at least one model from the rg limitited series in the Top 10 collection, as it effectively revived
the Reverso. I would go for the Tourbillon for being one of the smallest shaped tourbillon
movements ever produced, but it is a hard choice against the QP (well to be true, any watch
from the rg limited series could be included in the list).
· Reverso Tourbillon Skeleton Platinum – for practising the art of skeletonising to the max
· Any nice discreet ladies gem set watch powered by Cal. 101 – to praise JLCs art of gem
setting and Cal. 101
The Atmos would have been in the list but you asked for watches not for clocks as I understand it.
Cheers
