OK, now after looking back at the published material we have altogether, I can see this '2 dials possibilities' for the Chronometer (so when discarding the 14k non-chronometer MM which would be another watch altogether).
It seems that the early material published in 1957 (the first 2 skyscraper adverts in my post), plus the inside page of the warranty booklet, and the'display card' all show
- a 1st dial, which is full index markers plus a small XII / small VI
Then, the adverts from 1958 (the next 2 skyscrapers ads, and the 2 shipmasters ones with Commodores Anderson and Bouman) all show
- a 2nd dial, which has applied 3 / 6 / 9 / 12
In summary:
Now, the experience has proven that in several instances, some published early drawings / pictures have never made it to actual production, and the final watch was different from even, catalogs.
I am afraid that we are not so much advanced as to how many of these chronometers were produced, and whether any 'Dial 1' were made (we know for sure that at least 3 of these watches have been made since there are at least 3 captains who received ones, plus the actual watch in picture in this thread
