Agreed that the pusher may have been nicer if smaller.

If you love this dial, have a look at the MUT 39 Jubilé. You will adore it. + the case is top.

As for MRs in general, I think the Master Minute Repeater has a lot of arguments. The Hybris Mechanica 11. As well as the MGT Grande Complication whose sound is one of the best I've ever heard.

Without forgetting the Hybris Mechanica à Grande Sonnerie.

Best,

Nicolas

Jaeger-Lecoultre SIHH 2015: First pictures and impressions on the Master Grande Tradition

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2015-00:00
An interesting offer from this year certainly is this Master Grande Tradition Minute Repeater. Interesting, because this watch has, undisputably, some nice aesthetical virtues, and because it houses a new generation of minute repeaters movement. 1/ The ae...

Interesting, thank you for the review.

If I compare this watch to i.e. Patek 5078P or the relatively new VC Minute Repeater, it is quite far away. Everything depends of course on the price. A minute Repeater is such a great and rare complication that one would expect plain perfection when the ...

I like the case a lot, as well as the dial, I am more reserved on the movement.

Not mechanically, but aesthetically. Best, Nicolas

A nice complete presentation Nicolas

I must say I like the overall look of this MGT, especially the markings, the hands and the very nice white dial finish we already saw on other JLCs. There are just 3 things I would have liked to be different: . The "plaque" which looks a little too big. Y...

Agreed on the plaque and the pusher. Smaller would have been better in both cases.

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2015-10:49
I am not sure about the movement. For me, a Minute Repeater is magic, and the movement should match with that magic spirit. The HM 11 has an interesting and nice movement. This one doesn't reach that level of finish. Not because it is automatic, just beca...

Very nice write-up! Will it be "affordable"?

 By: jmpTT : March 16th, 2015-10:44
The combination of clean aesthetics and frosted dial is very appealing. The base movement looks like it shares quite a bit in common with the accessible pieces in the Master series. Given JLC's capabilities, there's no doubt the movement could be finished...

A couple of reservations

Hi I think I'm in agreement with other comments made earlier. The dial is wonderful, though agree about the gold ring around the small seconds. The texture of the dial adds real depth and I really like the restraint of the markers. I also agree with you w...

Interesting move....

I get a Geophysic vibe from this one! :) The case, the dial..... But it is not a perfect match, just resembling details... I prefer the trigger before the pusher for sure. Too bad they put the gold plate at 5... Really like what I see, looking forward to ...

Two interesting things to discuss, IMO...

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2015-15:54
The size, which is great, and the finish of the automatic problem, which is more discutable. A conversation piece... ;) Best, Blomman, and thanks for your feedback. Nicolas

Nicholas, thanks for your excellent review. I like the basic look

of the dial. I often wonder why JLC cannot make time only pieces with such a dial. Because, apart from the Reverso series, I find most of JLC Master series very aesthetically unappealing. This might be the next gen MR movement for JLC, but I find the acti...

Agreed that the pusher may have been nicer if smaller.

Sorry to be a party pooper..

but I really can t find much excitement in this watch. JLC daring attitude and bravery disappeared completely here,in this middle of the road lukewarm guts....... The case is the only decent thing, but that plaque...please.... I won t even mention the bac...

You don't have to be sorry, Mo.

The great idea is the small case. The dial is ok. But the automatic movement... Deginitely not my cup of tea. Like you, I think that a minute repeater deserves more, in terms of finishings. I will launch a thread on that matter, by the way. Best, Nicolas

Really love the elegance and proportions of this one

I prefer white metal with only a few exceptions and this piece might be one of them. The watch exudes classic simplicity aesthetically and the case 39 x 12 is lovely. I'd really welcome the opportunity to see this is person. The movement is very nice inde...

We'll discuss the movement more in depth, when I have an opportunity to better see it.

 By: amanico : March 17th, 2015-08:43
Still, I would have preferred something else to serve the purpose of such a nice Watch and sophisticated complication. Thanks for your feedback, Emcquillan. Nicolas

Thank-you, Nico, for the detailed write-up and

very valuable photos! It seems the movement is based on the derivation of cal. 899 - cal. 896 with the small second. Rather then commenting its decoration (well, we do not see the standard circular grinding, perhaps we would see better anglage), let me as...

That possibility came to my mind. I will have to check when I am at the Manufacture.

Interesting question! As for the sound volume with the former ones, I am waiting to find a definitive specimen, it will be fairer to proceed this way. I will! Best, Nicolas

Interesting piece...mixed feelings on this one...

Gorgeous case and proportions--very glad JLC didn't make this an ultra thin (even if it was possible) I like what I think would be the wrist presence here...a sane 39mm but some thickness, in keeping with the significance of the piece as a high complicati...

The movement is the part which most focuses our attention, indeed.

 By: amanico : March 18th, 2015-00:20
Which will lead me to post a topic about automatic and manual movements quite soon. How can I say it in good English? The risk with such a movement is to banalize such a prestigious complication? I expected more in terms of finish. As for the plaque, you ...
