New to Panerai with a 183 G

Feb 27, 2011,14:09 PM

Are there many radiomir 183 G fans out there?  I've come across quite a few posts about luminor designs with different dial or case nuances that some find interesting and collectible for unique qualities (ie: rare T dials, OP long tails, etc).

After some debate between going for a 005, 111 or a 183 for my first, I decided to go with the 183. I really like aspects of both, but feel that the profile of the radiomir case will allow it to be worn with most shirt cuffs, whereas the luminor case is a bit bulkier and may be best with short sleeves.

I went with a G series due to the dial layout primarily and the fact that as a collector, the run of only one year with this dial also holds some appeal. I've learned a lot on this and a couple of other sites that helped me make a decision, so thanks to those that have shared their knowledge so freely!

Paul

183G is a great choice for a first PAM.. You're absolutely right to say that it is the unique one amongst all 183.. If I'm not mistaken, the movement decoration are also different. The Radiomir is unmistakenly dressier compared to the luminor series. So I...

Thanks Sam, I will work on that

I ended up paying a bit more for the G vs. other series and hope it is worth it! Let me know if you have some strap recommendations that aren't too thick. Paul

Congrats on your 1st Panerai Paul!

The PAM183 is a great choice. Also, if you're worried about the Luminors not fitting under shirt cuffs, you may want to get some custom shirts made where the watch cuff is slightly larger than the other non-watch cuff. That solves that problem Cheers, Ant...

Great Start
