There are 2 iportant things to check when buying a Cartier made by JaegerLeCoultre

Jaeger LeCoultre produced a few watches at the request of Cartier in the 1940's-1950's, which were similar in most aspects to the JLC models but were distinctively made for Cartier.
Therefore, it is not only a matter of having the Cartier name put on the dial, but the watch had to comply with Cartier specificities, namely in the way they were marked (dial, case, and movement).

There are 2 iportant things to check when buying a Cartier made by JaegerLeCoultre:

1) the movement was produced specially for Cartier, and hence it doesn't bear the Jaeger LeCoultre name, but instead it is engraved European Watch & Clock Co.

2) The case (all elements) had additional Cartier numbers engraved - so that the watch is properly filed in Cartier's own registers - in addition to the Jaeger LeCoultre serial number. These are found next to the JLC SN on the caseback, but also on one of the lugs.

The point 2) can be forged (one could add a random number to a case, although not that simple), but 1) is simply not possible to counterfeit.

I would stay away from the watches that have a Cartier-signed dial, but are lacking the 2 other points  (or at least the watch would have to come with a certificate from Cartier specifying that the watch serial numbers were indeed corresponding to the watch).

I've seen a memovox with a Cartier single signature on front, but I recently came across my first dual signed lecoultre and cartier memovoxes.....both names clearly on the dial. Thoughts? rarity? Concerns? I'll try to post a pic soon.
