...dipped my toe into the world of diving...but it's definitely a favourite hobby of mine.
You're right, we'll never know what the SEALs are up to in the world of diving, but from the information available (what equipment they're using - supposedly LAR-V rebreathers, but who knows what modifications have been performed), their gas tables and dive protocols) most is not deep diving, after all, what operational function would going to 150m have...? And most will be mission based, the diving bit is just the transport....
Compared to: Sheck Exley diving caves in the days before Buoyancy Compensators...so he wired an empty Clorox jug to his kit, he'd fill and empty it to adjust his buoyancy....in a flooded cave, under hundreds of feet of rock and 1000's of feet in...with no direct way out...yikes...
But you're right, I should place something on HoMe. I've intended to, but it's either been extremely esoteric (How to read those Comex dive tables that pop up on the Rolex forum) or to hold interest, interesting dive photos (the most interesting/fascinating of which, I don't own...).
Hmmm, maybe some stuff on vintage rebreathers (Pirellis, you can still buy them) for the Panerai forum...or the British divers (who did a lot more than the Decima after learning of their methods...). Food for thought. But I will have some pretty underwater shots from my upcoming trip.
Cheers!
