SIHH 2012: Jaeger-LeCoultre offers real watches again!

 By: Dje : January 22nd, 2012-13:39
It was this year my 6th SIHH since I became a moderator and this year as every year as soon as I arrived at the SIHH I directly walked to the exterior windows of the Jaeger-LeCoultre exhibition to look at the novelties. I was very pleased with what I saw....

Thanks Jerome !

You have a crush on the WG Reverso ultra thin, and I get it. I think it is even better in White Gold. So understated. There is a price different but a white gold Reverso is not often seen, I think it's worth it in that case. With no reason I was never int...

Thank you François

Hi, Maybe it's worth it, and certainly it is, but it's not just possible for me. I can't afford to buy gold, I love calibres too much. Best Dje

Superb report, Jerome.

You're right, the good thing this year is that the important pieces are unaffordable ( the Sphero ) and affordable ( Grande Reverso Red ). With the WG Reverso Grained Dial, my 3 favourite watches, this year, from JLC. The picture of the 3 Reversos on Rose...

Aaah I forgot about the finish of the Sphero ...

 By: amanico : January 22nd, 2012-14:15
I will develop tomorrow, but I can already tell you that the finish is at he level of the price, and I am ashamed to say that it is way far better than, on the Cal 380 and 381. This is simple, to me, this is the best finished movement a modern JLC has rec...

Thank you Nicolas

Hi my friend, Yes it was a great show as there were many (some very) interesting watches. Yes maybe 2013 will be an extraordinary one! Wait and see. Best Dje

Maybe??? Certainly! ;)

The new Grande Ultra Thin Reverso in WG with blued hands and small sub seconds is my favorite from JLC this year by far. I love that grainy dial. Just beautiful! Thanks for your photos and impressions. respo

Wonderful write-up, Dje!

 By: dxboon : January 22nd, 2012-21:35
I can totally understand your passion for the gray dialed Reverso. The dial in combination with the blued hands is so utterly captivating. I like the small seconds display! JLC had some great releases this year! I cannot wait to see everything in person! ...

Thank you Daos! nt

I really wonder whether you have left anything for Nicolas to,add. The spherotourbillion is to die for. Best regards, George

Thank you George

Hi, As you've seen since Nicolas had much more to say about the Sphéro, and I'm sure there's even more he will say in the future. Best Dje

Thanks for the report Jerome

Beautiful plain Reverso ... there is no beauty like the beauty of simplicity... what do you think of the Skeleton Reverso ? any wrist shots of it? Faisal

Thanks Faisal. Sorry no wrist shot but I love it. You can see finish on my pics and ....

Hi, .....and the enamel hour rim adds a lot to the skeleton calibre and engraving. A true collector's watch.. Best Dje

...it must be this Dumetre Quantieme Lunaire. Simply sublime. But my finance is more compatible with something more pedestrian, something not as fabulous but quite as refined. I'm very interested in the Grande Reverso Calendar, especially in stainless ste...

Hi, Thank you for your comments. I can't say if it was a production piece or a prototype. I didn't notice what you mention, I can't even say I see it as obvious on my pics. If we have an opportunity to check we'll see. Best Dje

You said the same thing as my fiancee. So I made this illustration for her.

Allow me to share here too. Original pics borrowed from you and Patrickh, without prior permission I'm afraid. Sorry! Only the lower right one is large enough to really see it. But if you have a look at Patrick's larger original here jlc.watchprosite.com ...

Do you think that, sometimes, being a moderator is like...

...being a psychiatrist? Having to deal with obsessive compulsive, overly attentive and ultimately perfectionistic fans of the brand? Thank you for bringing much relief to this poor soul. Ruckdee

Don't misunderstand me, I feel your observations very useful.

 By: amanico : January 25th, 2012-11:09
It is not tolearable that a calendar is not perfectly aligned. ... In a definitive watch. Best, and thanks for your eagle eyes, Ruckdee. Nicolas

You're welcome and no misunderstanding here or anything.

 By: Ruckdee : January 25th, 2012-17:46
But as I know I usually exhaust my watchmakers, car mechanics and other repair technicians with these little things, I learn to be a little less perfectionistic and make the effort to show them their attention to my little nitpicking is truly appreciated....

Thanks for the report

Thanks for the pics and report! I am also a fan of the WG reverso. Unluckily (or perhaps luckily!) the large size moves it beyond my consideration, same as the triple calendar. The Sphero-tourbillon looks awesome, and seems to be one the big talking point...

Don't worry, we'll come back to the affordable round offers.

 By: amanico : January 23rd, 2012-06:49
There is a lot to say, to discover or rediscover. You're absolutely right, there is a life beside the Reverso. Best, Nicolas.

Correct, but not only: Master Control, Mater RDM, are also tempting.

On another register, though... Best, Nicolas

Thank you for your comments

 By: Dje : January 25th, 2012-08:13
Hi, Well the Reverso Grande Ultra Thin is not so large. It fits perfectly my wrist long used to the GT size. The Calendar is indeed a bit larger and would be too large for me I think. Best Dje

Thanks a lot hs111! nt
