The MASTER MEMOVOX Coming Back! I'm sure that many of us will be happy to hear such good news. JLC discontinued the last emanation of the Memovox, the Master Reveil, in 2005, which let all the fans of this watch a bit " orphan ". An Historical summary: Fr...

It was my first JLC back in 1987. Looking forward to see it soon Thanks Nico. Asi
Beautiful piece
By: Maverik : November 30th, 2009-23:04
Never saw this one before. Very nice dial color and layout! Cheers!
Very nice " Speed Beat ", Charles.
By: amanico : November 30th, 2009-23:10
That's the problem with the Memovoxes, Charles... There are so many beautiful ones which were made. Yours is grogeous, as well as your pic. Best! Nicolas
Excellent news...

I really like the new style lugs and bezel. Also the crowns on the new model seem smaller than on the previous, which I can only approve of! I cannot wait to see how the 40mm will look and feel. I have a feeling that with the case changes it could be even...
Sorry for the teasing, Nikolaj
By: amanico : November 30th, 2009-23:57
But this watch deserved such a teasing, don't you think? I'm really happy to see it back again, improved with some great details. I think it will be a hit, if I judge from the first reactions, here. Best, my firend. Nicolas
I liked the teasing actually, it's part of the fun here...
By: nikolaj : December 1st, 2009-06:10
I myself was betting on a re-invention of the Geo-matic based on the case back engraving. I certainly seems that you managed to create quite a hype for this watch with this little photo (or maybe the watch did it itself??) It is definitely good to see thi...
Nice piece
By: BluNotte : November 30th, 2009-07:28
But just really unfortunate that it is an automatic! Well mon ami, might you have any news of a remontage manuel novelty for me in exchange? LOl! Cheers Stephen

of another beautiful JLC...!! So my first original guess from your teasing was correct.....I did hope it was going to be an alarm piece..!! Pity it has a solid back as that was nice on the last one but you can't have everything in life. Cheers, Andy.
I'm quite happy to see a nice solid case back on this piece
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-03:23
We had only one Memo which used a sapphire case back, the one from the 90ies, housing a MANUAL Alarm movement. Here, this is an AUTOMATIC movement, hence, you'd see nothing which would deserved to be shown, IMO. So, I prefer a solid case back, with a nice...

Of course, Clavi, " mine " was a proto
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-03:30
So things can change till the next SIHH. The name, for example. On the proto, it is called Reveil, while I guess that it will rather be Memovox. I also guess that some improvements will be made on the definitive version, as you pointed out some of them. T...
I could yes
By: Clavi : December 1st, 2009-10:07
I could consider it, sure as it is very nice and a "true" memovox. But at the moment, I have to save on the watch budget and to focus on my 'old' watches (I am very much into the triple dates at the moment...)
LOL, Clavi
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-10:39
How I understand you.... An endless story, indeed. I saw some very nice specimen, lately. The lugs are to die for, and the dial is just sublime. Good hunt! Best, Nicolas
I want one !!!
By: tripon : November 30th, 2009-10:03
I was actually looking for a Master Reveil but quite rare on the pre-owned market. Thanks Nicolas for the information, report and pictures. Best, Pascal

By: tripon : December 1st, 2009-09:37
I was having some thought about this one (Reveil) and when I saw it in flesh (last Tuesday during L.U.C dinner), I've been convinced that I want one. And now a re-edition, so what could I expect more Best, Pascal
You're right Nicolas, I need alarm watches ..
By: tripon : December 2nd, 2009-00:17
...to wake up! A single one is not enough, so first one at 8AM, second one at 8.15AM and sometimes I would need another one at 8.30AM Any idea when JLC will propose a Répétition alarm watch?
Timeless
By: Ares501 - Mr Green : November 30th, 2009-10:11
First thing that came to my mind. It looks like it can be produced 15 years from now or 15 years in past and thank you for case back reminders :0) now I look less ridiculous :0) Best Damian This message has been edited by Ares501 on 2009-11-30 10:21:55

If you think about it, Patrick
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-03:53
The alarm most often went with a solid case back, except the 90ies Memo. Why? Because it is an automatic movement, first. So there is nothing really interesting to see. Then, because a sapphire case back would disturb the quality of the Alarm sound? So, i...

Of course, the D.S.A are stunning. But my problem is that I also love this one... Damn, I need some serious diet! Best, Hermano. Nicolas
Like it, but not as much as the old Reveil
By: Starman : November 30th, 2009-13:31
Thanks for a great report Nicolas. We discussed this topic a long while and I suppose all JLC lovers would like to see a new Memovox or Reveil. To me the old Reveil is a real beauty. It has quite a solid case IMO a nice bezel and a wonderfull 38 mm. Combi...

By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-08:19
I hear you perfectly on your arguments on the former Master Reveil. What you said is true, it looks chunkier, and it may please to some, without any doubts. Will a black dialed Memo come? The answer is ...YES! Do I already have a pic of it? NO. Sometimes,...

By: saniloc : November 30th, 2009-14:43
Thanks a lot for the pictures Nicolas. It's good to have real picture of an steel watch. Now, i want to compare the new memovox with my old réveil in the same hand. Nicolas too
We'll arrange that, Saniloc
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-08:21
As soon as possible, we'll take a pic of your Master Reveil, aside with the new Memo. Thanks for having let me play with yours, and for having allowed me to tae pics of yours. Best, my friend. Nicolas ( too ).

I really like the crowns, which are very similar to the low profile crowns found on EPSA cases.... and that seconds hand is magnificent.
Eagle eyes, Ben!
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-08:28
Well seen, about the crowns! So, just rather nice? Best, my friend. Nicolas
Very Nice!
By: iwcfan2 : November 30th, 2009-18:39
I like it a lot. The blued seconds hand and lovely silver dial make it timeless. Thanks again for another excellent report and teaser Nicolas. At least you didn't make us wait too long... I have to admit I was hoping for a new incarnation of the Geophysic...
As a big fan of the Géophysic, I share your hopes
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-08:30
I would really like to see a modern interpretation of the Géophysic, too. But, for now, I can only say that this Memo is a superb appetizer on what we will see in a very next future! Stay tuned. Best, Nicolas
Wow, excellent news....
By: Goh : November 30th, 2009-21:29
Well worth the wait indeed. Does it come with bracelet, like the Hometime? Can't wait to compare it side-by-side with my Reveil. Any indication if JLC would offer one on black dial - perhaps as a boutique edition? Goh
I don't know all the details on the accessories
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-08:32
Which which will come with this watch, BUT I can tell you that something nice will be revealed ASAP. A Bracelet? I can only share a guess, as all hsn't be said, for the moment, but I think it may be very poosible to have a bracelet on this version. Best, ...
Thanks Nicolas.
By: Goh : December 1st, 2009-17:13
A black dial Memovox with bracelet...? That'll do it for me Goh
Great for Memovox lovers like me! :)
By: patrickmaniac : November 30th, 2009-22:02
Wonder if they will ever be able to do it in clear back though. Thanks Nic for the info. cheers Pat
No, Pat
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-08:35
As I previously said, the movement is the Cal 956, an automatic one, and since there is not much to be seen, I do think that a solid case back is the best solution, IMO. Therefore, I'm not sure an alarm will perfectly sound with a sapphire case back. Best...
Very nice, very...
By: Maverik : November 30th, 2009-23:00
Hi Nicolas, A very nice new model. A real elegant and exciting watch. Thank you for sharing! For me too bad that it has a solid back. Although the engraving is very nice I really would like to be able to see the beautiful movement. Greets Rik
Aaah Rik, this is the eternal problem
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-13:38
Put a sapphire case back, and you'll have a lot of people to say that it wans't worth it. Put a solid case back, and you'll have some to regret the sapphire case back... Best, my friend. Nicolas
Wonderful news...
By: david.graham : December 1st, 2009-04:33
This watch should never have left the range. I really like it and am pleased with the alerations to the previous model. Thanks for posting Nicolas David
Ah, this is the one!

A great comeback! And one more JLC I will have to consider. Thank you for the reveal! Best regards, Baxter
I feel we'll be many to consider it, Baxter.
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-23:28
It belongs to the rare category of " Must Have " watches for every JLC fan and Alarm Lovers, IMO.... Best, and thanks for your nice words, Baxter. Nicolas
Thanks for the post Nico
By: moc : December 1st, 2009-07:29
Great looking watch, elegant and understated class.Again Tradition and innovation is really the perfect motto for JLC.Glad the memo is back!Yours,Mo.
Can't agree more, Mo.

Wearing it a whole day was a superb experience! Best, my friend. Nicolas
Finally! Thanks a lot!
By: south : December 1st, 2009-08:29
Looks great so far. I'm looking forward to the World time version of it. I'm still not sure if I like it more than the NSA. Sure, totally different watches... Best regards
Totally different watches, as the E 855 and the Polaris were.
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-23:32
This Memo is a dressy watch, which can actually be worn with less formal suits, while the Polaris is sportier. Hence, the difficulty to compare these 2 Memovoxes. The solution? Getting both of them. Best, Nicolas
Rather expensive
By: south : December 2nd, 2009-08:21
I agree, but there must be another solution. Best regards
I love it, but must confess...
By: watchme : December 1st, 2009-11:39
that I really miss the "Memovox" Master Black with the exhibition back, so that you could SEE the gong getting hammered (not drunk) . -Dean
A black dialed version will be offered, but AFAIK
By: amanico : December 1st, 2009-23:36
No sapphire case back... I just can tell you " Wait and See ". But I agree that the Black Memo from the 90ies was a superb watch. I'm hunting it, by the way! Best, Nicolas
LE with black dial
By: na2hpo4 : December 3rd, 2009-08:20
Will the black dial be the only difference between the regular steel model and the LE model in steel? If yes, this would - IMHO - not justify any significant difference in prices. However, an engraved back with a gold plate as additional 'goodie' would ma...
he he he he.......
By: MiniCooper : December 3rd, 2009-10:39
You know me well my friend...... You are the moderator- it is up to you to reveal...... Cheers
Will you reveal
By: na2hpo4 : December 3rd, 2009-11:11
this information still in December? As I'm on a business trip for several weeks in Jan. and Feb. I would have to place any order in advance at my AD. So any further hint regarding the LE in steel would be very helpful.
I think I will be allowed to.
By: amanico : December 3rd, 2009-11:15
For the moment, the informations about the black dialed Memo are under embargo... But, AFAIK, it won't be a very short batch, so you will have the time to place your order. Best, Nicolas
Nice revival!
By: Fred.N : December 2nd, 2009-04:13
Thank you for the report Nico! Can't wait to discover the pink gold version, seems to be very charming in the press scans!!!
Great reveal!
By: respo : December 2nd, 2009-06:46
Ah, so that is what you had up your sleeve. It is great that JLC brought back the Memovox. It was missing from the current lineup of alarm watches. I really like the new Master case style for this one and the 40mm size is a wonderful modern day size that ...
The dimensions are a great pro, in this case
By: amanico : December 2nd, 2009-08:16
Keep in mind that the new Memovox is 40 mm big and 14,08 mm thick, while the former Master Reveil was 38, 5 mm and 14, 025 thick. So, almost the same thickness for the a bigger size sounds lie the promise of nicer volumes. If I'm in? Yes, I will get one, ...
A logical move by JLC ...
By: sw-rick : December 3rd, 2009-00:27
It seems the cal 956 is becoming a work horse indeed, but why still insist on all these limited editions? Limited production more like it! I really like the new case, but the crowns look awkward. Cheers, Rick
Great news but...
By: oruga65 : December 3rd, 2009-11:10
...I agree with my pal Starman that I prefer the Dauphine hands. Maybe it's our "father's love" of our old Reveils. JLC has time to change that hands as you said that it is a prototipe yet, ;-) isn't it? Great news. Thanks!
