Dear Friends, please meet my new Seiko Diver SRP653K1 :)

Dear Friends,

Today, by chance, I had the good fortune to purchase a new limited edition Seiko diver...

This is the 50th Anniversary edition, produced by Seiko to commemorate their divers' watch series. There are 2 models for this edition, one with a blue dial/ bezel (the SRP653K1) and one with a black dial/bezel (the SRP655K1).

Ever since I missed the chance to own the 100th Anniversary blue "sardine" (the SRP453K1) put out by Seiko a couple of years ago, I've been looking for another blue limited edition tuna-can styled diver. Of course, when I chanced upon this one, I grabbed it right away without even trying it on. LOL.

So when I got home and compared with my Seiko "sardine" (the SRP234K1), I realised what a different beast the SRP653K1 is. To call it a sardine would be ridiculous....

The SRP653K1 measures a whopping 50.2mm in case size, and it features hidden lugs. In fact, it's more akin to the Emperor Tuna.

Another interesting feature is the metal strap keeper...

The watch is now so big, it has to have a curved back to go around the wearer's wrist... (I took off the super long rubber strap and put it on a less super long NATO LOL)...

Here's a shot of it with some of my other Seiko limited ed divers....

The SRP653K1 is a gargantuan watch indeed. But it is surprisingly wearable. I like the ceramic bezel very much. It's much better than the plastic ones on the sardines. Overall, it's a fun watch to wear. The blue colour theme makes it very fashionable indeed.

Cheers and thanks for looking  smile

The SRP653K1 is way too big for my wrist but is a very nice diver. Congratulations, Nilo

diluted magnetics, At first, I thought the gargantuan watch was out of place until I realused that i is a Seiko Prospex. That class of watch is for Professional Divers thus it would be in proportion over a diving suit. We forget that when the watch is sim...
