I’m on a ☘️ lucky ☘️ streak with Rolex!

You may recall I was able to acquire my Yacht-Master as a walk-in during a vacation trip to Chicago back in September:
I’m currently on vacation in the Washington, DC area. Of course, no vacation is complete without visiting ADs and boutiques. One AD had an Explorer 124270 on display with no “display only” sign. When I inquired about its availability, the sales associate simply laughed and responded, “Oh, no! We have no Rolex pieces available for sale!” Despite the expected, I was able to see the Deepsea Challenge 126067:
On Sunday, I took a long drive up to a Baltimore AD that I have not visited since 2005. I spent the initially time looking at the other brands’ display cases since their were customers at the Rolex section. My plan was to sea the Deepsea
43 126600. When I asked to see the SD43, the sales associate interjected, “We do have some Rolex pieces available for sale.” Not having high expectations, I almost laughed out loud.
Lo and behold, they had an Explorer available! They also had the two-tone Explorer 124273 available. In fact, my local AD offer this two-tone Explorer a couple of weeks ago, which I turned down since I wanted the stainless steel piece. Obviously, I couldn’t resist this fantastic opportunity and very quickly decided to pull the trigger:
Fortunately, the sales tax in MD is slightly lower than MA. As a result, unlike my Chicago experience, I was able to walk out the door with it:
So, I don’t know if I’ve been extremely lucky with these two recent Rolex acquisitions or if this is a sign we are slowly returning to normal. Regardless, I’ve been quite fortunate this year! Happy Holidays! Stay safe!
Perhaps, I should take Nico’s advice and start playing the lottery!😉
Best,
Mark
