now THIS is interesting...

Do you mean a 5960/1A actually fitted w/ strap? (i.e. white dial 5960 on strap) Would love it if you can share a picture of it as my dealer told me it's impossible!!!
Now to your questions:
-The polished bracelet did bother me at first. It's just a bit too shiny/flashy for my taste but somehow it seems to work with the dial so I'm slowly getting used to it. Maybe it's just me subconsciously convincing myself!
At least it doesn't bother me as much anymore.
-Yet to take it to the pool as I have more suitable watches for that purposes but it's supposed to be water resistance for upto 30 meters so if I have to guess it should survive a day at the beach or by the pool. Sorry I can't give you any definitive answer here.
-If you wear your 5960P so often then obviously the dial/complication speaks to you so I think the 5960/1A can only be even more versatile. Now whether to own it or not is a very religious & subjective question. We can go on & on about what you have in your collection, the 'objective' or 'theme' of your collection, etc etc. But in short, if you like it and have the means for it, GO FOR IT!
I suspect it won't stay in production for long.
-Personally I would prefer this to the Nautilus for a daily watch. Reason being faint hairlines wouldn't be obvious on the polished case whereas on a matte finished watch like Nautilus, any faint mark/scratch would become very visible.
Hope you find this helpful.
