More Blue Goodness!
Jul 12, 2014,05:05 AM
Excellent. This is a summer watch with the color to match! I'm not sure if it's swimming pool blue or ocean blue - maybe both.
The size, strap, and color palette give
it the feel of a modern sports watch... only about 20 years before the
Offshore.
I do believe this watch has a strong identity of its own apart from its Polaris heritage, and 1970 JLC showed no trepidation about stepping far beyond its aesthetic norms for the class. I think the company showed real daring in breaking from the tradition of its previous dive models. Perhaps it's unfair to compare P2 to the Polaris and better to look at it as a trail blazer for new themes within the company and industry; the first of its kind rather than the second.
While I know that this model is somewhat controversial among strong partisans of the earlier DeepSea, MM Barracuda, and Polaris, I suppose that just makes Polaris II the "Master Compressor Extreme" of its day: embraced by some, controversial, destined to be a cult watch among JLC fans.
If it isn't a precursor to the modern oversize watch, it's definitely the direct ancestor of my EWA Tides of Time
Best,
Tim

I love a lot the way you see it, I mean not like a Polaris. It is hard to discover some common points between the I and the II. Except the date and the fact that it is an alarm automatic movement. The rest, and even the movement, is totally different. Yes...
I like the blue hue

On your Polaris II. Another beauty you have Nicolas. A really cool watch to compliment the nice weather. (How come it rained so much when I was there?!) :) Cheers Robin
