Latest catch - JLC Master Ultra Thin 39 Perpetual Calendar boutique edition
May 23, 2014,09:35 AM
Dear all
Weeks ago I posted my visit to the JLC Singapore boutique at Marina Bay Sands.
I said I ordered a watch but didn't want to disclose which one. See below post for recap:
Many Purists guessed it right. I initially placed a deposit for the Reverso Rouge (the boutique ran out of short straps so they had to order one - meanwhile I just had to place a deposit for the Rouge while waiting for the short strap). The red dial is very special and I love it! Those of you who guessed the Rouge - well done!
A large part of me however, wanted a perpetual calendar watch and the Master Ultra Thin 39 Perpetual Calendars were awesome candidates. The RG one was very nice and I love RG but... something about the contrast between the white colored year aperture and the eggshell dial bothered me. The WG version has a strong contrast between the white grained dial and the darkened indices and hands - although that's easier to read, I prefer the hands/indices to blend in with the dial a bit more. But I thought my first JLC needs to be a Reverso and still went for the Rouge.
The story changed from here... I think it's predestined
While waiting for the Rouge's short strap, the exclusive and highly sought after MUT 39 boutique edition Perpetual Calendar in steel arrived. A brand new piece and no one has ordered it yet. The boutique supervisor pinged me and I made a trip down to look at it. After a long consideration, I changed my mind and went for the steel MUT PC instead!
Although I like the Rose gold version too, the steel boutique special edition version spoke to me more. It has a very comfortable deployment buckle, a beautiful yet subtle sunburst dial and I actually like the looks of white metal on this PC more than rose gold this time! It looks very discreet and it's easy to wear more often/daily.
And here it is! Just collected today during my lunch break. Just in time for the weekend! My first JLC. First perpetual calendar. First high complication watch. First boutique special watch. Many firsts!
Some photos to share. Enjoy !
As a side note, I saw the new Reverso TT 1948 today too! The blued hands and indices are beautiful indeed!
Cheers
Robin
