Am in too: not a fresh pic, but definitely the JLC that was on my wrist earlier today.
Out of the dozens of thousands of E855, do we have an indication on the production number with a black diaĺ / SS case ?

It has been a very long time I didn't spend some wrist time with this Black E 855. A wonderful Watch, very classy, elegant, but powerful too. And which has a lot of charm. One issue, though... It is very hard to capture in picture, due to its glossy dial ...

Which is normal for dress watches from the 50's and 60's (due to that black was associated with funeral and death = not popular at this time)... But, I am not sure I agree that they came later in production... What do you build that assumption on? From my...

I saw maby a dozen, with a case number which suggests a later production. When I say later, I mean around 1967. Confirmed by the movement number. But it is a guess from me, nothing official. A dozen is not enough to allow some firm statements, indeed. Bes...

Just checked, my black is from 1969. Still it is interesting that many of the JL logo and "Automatic" at 12 dials are in worse condition than those with "Automatic" at 6... Best, my friend Blomman
