Very much my taste

The original was already stunning. I had the chance to try it one a while ago and I was deeply impressed.
Unfortunately this shabby smartphone shot is all I have to offer of that occasion:
But I must say that I like the new Hybris Artistica / Monn even much better for some reasons:
New dial looks is cleaner, which I am a big fan of because I think that mastering simplicity is the ultimate challenge.
In direct comparison the original dial even looks a little cluttered with the date display and the shiny frames around the hour dial and the date ring.
The new hour display has more space to breathe which results in better proportions for me.
Then there is the moonphase which add a nice romantic touch to a watch that has a strong technical emphasis otherwise. And - maybe more important - it adds a nice and tasteful touch of colour which in turn is exquisitely balanced by the use of blued screws on the Tourbillon at the other side of the dial. Very well done.
But the killer are the new surroundings for the Spherotourbillon. While in the original version the Spherotourbillion looked a little crammed into its "hole" in the new version it gets an open stage to act on. I cannot think of a different word than "stage". Even the stairs are there like in a cabaret and I imagine the star walking them down gracefully towards the audience and taking the stage.
Yes, Sir, the designers at JLC managed to evolve a great design into an outstanding design. I love it.
Have a great weekend,
Martin
