Which is normal for dress watches from the 50's and 60's (due to that black was associated with funeral and death=not popular at this time)...
But, I am not sure I agree that they came later in production...
What do you build that assumption on?
From my point of view, the ebony index, the lapsie dial came later, yes.
But if you look at the black dial with the JL logo and "Automatic" at 12, close to the alarm disk - to me that is an early dial...
While JL logo at 12 and "Automatic" at 6 is later dial...
I may be wrong - maybe Clavi have some input on this...?
