today our 11 year old son Henry won a goldfish at the local carnival(and 1st prize in the fancy dress, but thats another story). i didnt know they still did things like having goldfish in plastic bags, but they still do around here. anyway he wants to cal...

What about the name JAWS? -MW

 By: G99 : August 1st, 2009-13:39
LOL!!

That's exactly what my daughter named hers.

 By: Allen : August 1st, 2009-19:11
It was also caught at a school event and brought home in a plastic bag. That was 3 years ago and it's still alive!

=) I'm surprised that...

 By: DRMW : August 2nd, 2009-02:31
Hello Allen, I'm surprised that the fish lived for 3 years! I guess she has the magic touch. Did you feed the fish the food flakes? I used to do bread crumbs on those carnival goldfish and they really liked eating it. -MW

Just the fish flakes are enough to keep them alive.

 By: Allen : August 2nd, 2009-18:22
My friend's goldfish lived for almost 10 years and grew to almost a foot long!

Easy...

 By: dxboon : August 1st, 2009-11:33
...his name should be Auric. After Auric GOLDfinger from the James Bond series. Auric also hearkens back to the scientific symbol for gold (Au). Way to go, and win that prize, Henry! Cheers, Daos

nice one Daos, very lateral....

 By: G99 : August 1st, 2009-11:43
nice one Daos, very lateral. best G

RATS! I was thinking the same thing!

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2009-16:15
We think very much alike! Another vote for Auric. I was also thinking about the scientific name of gold and the famous James Bond film. We can't call the goldfish Scaramanga; so Auric would be my choice.

You could always use the name...

 By: DRMW : August 2nd, 2009-02:33
Hello Patrick, Although others have already suggested Nemo, you can always use Dory as a name suggestion. Ariel is another good one from Disney. -MW

You could call it ...

What about "PG" (pronounce: pee-gee)?

 By: anaesdoc : August 1st, 2009-15:33
Sounds childlike and alludes to the gold aspect of the fish - but as the goldfish definitely has an orange-reddish color, is more appropriate than "WG" or "YG" . Apart from that "PG" might serve for futher wordplay like having people guess what this stand...

 By: DRMW : August 2nd, 2009-12:14
Hello Geo! Since I'm not eligible to win, the name 'Goldie' can be your entry if Graham picks that name. Also multiple suggestions for names are allowed! Good luck!

Geo, thanks for that advice....
