2015 SIHH Jaeger- Lecoultre: The novelties.

Jan 19, 2015,01:29 AM

Here is a first look on the 2015 collection.

As you will see, Jaeger-Lecoulte focused, this year, on Space and Moon, Astral theme.

A romantic but strong link exists between horology and space. Even there is always a difference of 3 minutes and 56 seconds between sidereal and civilian time!

Sometimes, it is a matter of material, such as the meteorite dials used on the Master Calendar, often it is all about a very performant moonphase, in terms of accuracy. Or sky maps plus zodiacal calendar. Without forgetting an Equation of Time.

You will certainly watches which explore another universe, if you allow me this pun, but a bit later.

Honors to the astral theme, then.

1/ Master Calendar Meteorite.

In stainless steel:

In rose gold:

39 mm case, Cal 866, offering an autonomy of 43 hours, and displaying the following functions: Triple Calendar + Moonphase.

2/ Rendez Vous Moon.

36 or 39 mm white gold case, Cal 935, 43 hours power reserve, 28 800 vibrations per hour.

Functions: Appointment time, as on every Rendez Vous, naturally, and a monphase which is accurate to one day each 972 years ( yes, you read well ). Moondisc made of mother of pearl, the sky is guilloched and covered with blue lacquer.

3/ Duometre à Spherotourbillon Moon.

42 mm platinum case, with a window on the left side of the Watch allowing to see the ballet of the tourbillon, " stairway " in german silver. The moonphase disc is made of Lapis Lazuli.

Cal 389, manual winding, offering a power reserve of 45 hours, Here, the moonphase is accurate to one day each 3887 years.

Pin buckle in platinum.

Limited Edition of 75 pièces.

4/ Atmos Marquetry Paille ( Straw ).

331 x 189 x 256mm Cabinet. Cal 582 diaplaying the hours and minutes as a regulator, 24 hours, Months and a moonphase accurate to one day each 3861 years.

Limited Edition to 8 pièces.

5/ Master Grande Tradition Cylindric Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar.

42mm grey gold case, 13, 1mm high, water resistant to 50 meters. Cal 985, with a 45 hours power reserve, 28 800 vibrations per hour.

Like the further model, it still displays a flying tourbillon with its cylindric spiral, a perpetual calendar, the novelty being the addition of a zodiacal calendar.

Grained blue dial, the moondisc being made of lapis lazuli.

6/ Rendez Vous Celestial Rose Gold.

37, 5 mm rose gold case, water résistant to 50 meters, 139 diamonds, Cal 809/1, automatic, 40 hours autonomy, beating at 28 800 vibrations per hour.

Sky map + zodiacal calendar.

The dial is guilloched, in red aventurine, with diamonds.

7/ Master Grande Tradition Orbital Tourbillon.

42mm grey gold case, 13, 2mm high, with diamond Baguettes. Cal 946, manual winding, 48 hours power reserve, 28 800 vibrations per hour.

Flying tourbillon, with a dial which rotates anti clockwise in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds.

The dial is full paved with diamond baguettes.

Set folding buckle.

8/ Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication in Rose Gold.

45 mm rose gold case, 15, 8 mm high, satined blue dial, Cal 945, offering a powerv reserve of 40 hours, beating at 28 800 vibrations per hour, with a silicon escapement. The complications are: Flying Tourbillon, Minute Repeater, Map of the Sky, Zodiac Calendar + months, and 24 hours.

9/ I will also add the Rendez Vous Minute Repeater Ivy, which has been unveiled at Watches and Wonders in September 2014, but which is a novelty we didn't seriously discuss, till now. The second Automatic Minute Repeater from JLC. A sign?

10/ A few other Rendez Vous:

Rendez-vous Date 37.5 Rose Gold:

Rendez-Vous Edition Boutique (or rose et cadran chocolat)

More will come, all along the year, don't worry about that!

Best,

Nicolas

Thank you, Nicolas

Hi Nicolas, and thank you for faithfully conveying the news so quickly. The high complications are impressive, but even these feel like (and are) variations on well-established models and lines. I do wish JLC had focused on building innovative mid-market ...

I discussed that point with Mr Riedo.

 By: amanico : January 19th, 2015-15:55
There is an important and interesting argument, here. They focused, at JLC, on the availablity of the watches unveiled these past years. So, they need to focus their efforts on that. Moreover there are some watches which will be unveiled later. Some are v...

Thank you for the overview, Nicolas!

I feel it is a very "blingy" lineup fomr JLC this year - hope to see some more "tool" related watches as well...! Best Blomman

JLC still got just Silver

 By: dr.kol : January 19th, 2015-06:55
AP probably is unbeatable. They could place over 50 ct to one single watch. Looking at the offerings of today, I feel very good. My savings are safe. Best, Kari

Well, too early to judge, Kari....

But if we are "lucky" - yes, then our savings are safe! ;) Best Blomman

:-o = :)).. !! [nt]

 By: hs111 : January 19th, 2015-23:52

Well, the meteorite is not blingy, nor the Duometre Sphero moon.

 By: amanico : January 19th, 2015-15:57
Now, this part of the collection has also its blingy side, but this is not all... Best, Nicolas

I am sure these are not all from JLC this year...

By: blomman Mr Blue : January 19th, 2015-22:39
Initial feelings from press photos, are not always the truth, but these I get a "blingy" feeling from. Hopefully that feeling will go away once we go down a bit in the price ranges! Secretly I have been hoping for a new tool watch from JLC, but I guess th...

For the tool watch, maybe not this year. An evolution from a tool watch , yes.

 By: amanico : January 19th, 2015-22:42
But a novelty novelty, not this year. Best, Nicolas

OK, I will not guess since I suspect the watch is still under embargo.....

By: blomman Mr Blue : January 20th, 2015-04:09
Looking forward to see the evolution! :) Best Blomman

Thank you Nicolas for the report

To be honest I was expected to see the new collection that said that will be positioned between the Reverso and the Compressor line. Maybe later this year. Best Yiannis

When?I can't wait!!

Agree with Blomman

 By: tinker2 : January 19th, 2015-07:33
Sadly, as JLC is my favorite brand, this is so so so not my style. The meteorite seems so gimmicky, the rest seem so bling-bling. But I am sure the know their market.

I feel a little disappointed after what I expected

By: Mark in Paris : January 19th, 2015-10:39
I like the Spherotourbillon's grainy dial and overall look but I must say I don't really like the other novelties this year. I think I really have to see the Meteorite dials in the metal to see how it looks like and how it combines with the case colors. T...

From these pieces, my favourite is the Rendez Vous Red Aventurine.

 By: amanico : January 19th, 2015-16:09
From these pièces... Which is not the complete collection... Best, Nicolas

Up to now

 By: stromer : January 19th, 2015-11:00
it looks more like a consolidation year. Though I know somebody very dear to me who will be very interested to hear that JLC indeed hear her calling for a large version in the Rendez-Vous line other than the Tourbill(i)on :-) Well, let's wait and see........

Thx for this pictorial !.. +1 a bit "Blingy".. But on a humble, personal view..

 By: hs111 : January 19th, 2015-11:50
.. am a bit drawn to the Master Calendar Meteorite / ss ; - Just might have to look how the wallet treats the CHF/€ ratio, maybe.. And the MGT Cyl Tourbillon PC and MGT Gd Complication RG are marvels - but not in reach anyway - yet daydreaming or good pic...

Thanks, Nicolas ....

My favourite, the Master Calendar Meteorite Stainless Steel, love the texture of the dial it reminds me of the "Nazca Lines", intriguing, mysterious and the Atmos, what a marvelous piece. Thank you Nicolas. Cheers Francois

I'm glad to see....

Some added bling to the lineup... maybe something is in the water in the Vallée de Joux... lots of jewels this year from AP too. The Master Calendar Meteorite, definitely my favorite. I'll stay tuned on this one.

I am glad JLC changed the schedule of the unveilings.

 By: amanico : January 20th, 2015-12:52
Still, there are some interesting things to discover, too! Best, Nicolas

Great report, thank you

 By: vitalsigns : January 21st, 2015-10:16
Thank you for the report and for the photos. Doesn't appear to be anything that I will pursue this year as the focus seems to be on the very high-end, although I would love to get a Renzez Vous for my wife someday...anniversary coming up, so maybe... Hope...

There are some pieces in the affordable " human priced " category, too.

 By: amanico : January 21st, 2015-12:01
I will have to show them. Soon. Thanks for looking, John. Best, Nicolas

Meteorites? Really? This is what it has come to? What does that have to do with horology? Where is the next Amvox 2?

Amvox 2... Really?

 By: cory : January 21st, 2015-21:13
Where is the LAB III ;)

I will wait because...

 By: cory : January 22nd, 2015-11:08
I know it will be worth it. I would however like to see JLC revisit the next LAB III in a new case/collection... does it have to be a master compressor? I would like to see it much smaller also (40mm) with a cleaner dial and a more highly finished movemen...

If the above was too much to ask....

 By: cory : January 22nd, 2015-11:21
I would also like to see JLC challenge the thickness of the next LAB III with its highly innovative movement and architecture ... I would like to the case offering much thinner . ;) ...

I don't expect you do have BUT

 By: cory : January 22nd, 2015-11:30
What are your thoughts and what would you like to see from JLC in the next LAB III?

8 days Power Reserve?

 By: cory : January 22nd, 2015-11:45

Why not? [nt]

 By: amanico : January 22nd, 2015-11:50

Absolutely... I love it!

 By: cory : January 22nd, 2015-11:58
I like your 'Cocktail' choice very much... it would be so nice in a cleaner/less fussy dial and smaller thinner case with all the innovation and technology of the original LAB. Will be interesting to see where the developments go!

Exactly...

 By: cory : January 22nd, 2015-12:38
You got it! - Small - High-tech design with clean lines - Revolutionary - Lubricant free - Resistance to extreme temps -40°/+60° - Damn sexy ;) ...

+1

 By: proestak : January 22nd, 2015-23:53
This is the first SIHH,as long as remember, without a totally new movement release from JLC. Best Yiannis

But when...

 By: cory : January 23rd, 2015-16:33
How long do we have to wait!? ;)

Enjoy the present. [nt]

 By: amanico : January 24th, 2015-00:01

Well, there is a movement, displaying a triple calendar. ;)

 By: amanico : January 21st, 2015-21:48
I would be very surprised to see a new Amvox, this year. But don't worry, you will have some horological products. Not totally new, but with some great horological improvements. Best, Nicolas
