A few pictures of the Jaeger Lecoultre Futurematic Ref E 501.

One of the icons, from the Grande Maison, along with the Memovox, the Reverso, the Geophysic and a few others.

The Futurematic has an elegant, very elegant case, in this reference ( There were several references, among the Lecoultre and Jaeger Lecoultre versions ), which is my favourite with the famous E 502 so called " Pört Hole ".

The dial is an example of sobriety and originality.

The complex and sophisticated movement has to be mentionned, too. It has been said that the Fururematic costed more money to JLC than they would gain with it...

And, last but not least, the crown, hidden on the case back, bearing the famous mention " Slide do not lift ".

Here it is, as promised, with some fresh pictures.

And a last one, a wristshot, showing how " mild " is this dial in the daylight:

No wonder why this model has become an icon...

Best,

Nicolas.

Almost impossible to find this exact model I don't know how many have been produced Many have been produced with red paint - but this dial is just a splendor!

That is why I made the Financial effort to get it... A bit more than 6 years ago.... And the profile of this case is just somptuous. Thanks for your kind words. Nicolas.

This one looks really great

I wish they made special watches like this one today, a watch without a crown protruding on the side to dig into the wrists is special and nice for sure.

The first interrogation I had in mind, when looking at Futurematic pictures was...

To know if the crown, located on the case back, was a comfort issue, or not... You don't even feel it! Oh yes, a Futurematic, but with a modern design, would be great.... I would not like to see a Tribute of this Watch. What? Did you say Ulysse Nardin Fre...

I have a great love for this watch, always a pleasure to see it!

While mine plays in a more classic register. The cases, too ,are different. Yours is one millimeter bigger, more macho. More coherent with this dial. Both are terrific. Here a side by side picture of the " two friends ". Best, HS. Nicolas ...

Oh yes, Thank you.. Really so nice Duo shots !..These Futurematics have their own spell !

Why not trying to hunt, at least the two nicest configurations? You are right about the issue of the service, in the case of the Futurematic. But there is always the Manufacture solution, and I think I know one or two good Watchmakers in Paris who can tak...

What? No love for our American versions?

I also have one of each: Here's a movement shot of the cal. 817: I have always thought of these as similar to the Mazda Rotary engine. It has the same function as a conventional piston engine, just does things a bit differently. Take care, gatorcpa ...

The pair is the way to go. I am more and more convinced about that.

Thanks, Gatorcpa. I love your metaphore with the Mazda engine! ;) Best, Nicolas
