Your favourite Jaeger Lecoultre Amvox?

Oct 15, 2014,00:54 AM

1, 2, 3, 5, 7?

1:

2:

3:

5:

7:

I was in love with the One... Deeply mad about the 2... Intrigued by the 3, and then.... Well.... Quite indifferent with the others.

The 1 was a superb modern evocation of th Polaris. The 2 a captivating concept Watch. The 3 was interesting, but playing in another Financial league.

The 5? I didn't like the return ogf the chrono pushers. The 2 launched a new vision of Chronography, I was a bit disappointed to see the 5 coming back to traditional chrono pushers.

As for the 7, it is an Amvox II for Aston Martin owners. Which has an interest for them, and only for them.

So... II, then I for me.

For you?

Best,

Nicolas

because of the pure forms, which remind me of the Polaris....

My vote has some bias ...

 By: nilomis : October 15th, 2014-07:21
Because I own an Amvox 2 but my preference is for the Amvox 1 (SS please). I was silly to sell my Amvox 1 and one day it will be back. Cheers, Nilo

That surprises me, that you prefer the I to the II.

But the vote has been made, and that makes 3 6 1 for the One! Best, Nicolas.

Black Concept

 By: tinker2 : October 15th, 2014-10:23
Well, I love all three of the Amvox 2's the best-- mostly because they are the "original" of the second generation, but also because I find them to be the most legible. I myself own the black PVD, which I find to be the "purest" expression of the designer...

3-2 for the Amvox One. I agree with you, the Black Concept is the strongest of

The first edition. As for the strap, you are sadly right. Try the Amvox III strap. I never found a better one for the II. ;) All the best, Tinker. Nicolas

I did...

I did try the Amvox III strap-- wasn't for me. The original one I liked, but broke at the lugs pin. The one I am wearing above is a custom one that I seem to like the most.

one more thing

In fact I have the very same strap you have on the picture of the black concept at the top far left of your original post. It's just a too much too "butch" for me. And really makes it feel WAY race-car for me. I know I know, it is a car-inspired watch, bu...

But I love the AMVOX I, too. Best, respo ...

The Amvox II Gang is waking up. ;)

It is such a well thought Watch! Best my friend. Nicolas.

Wow Respo

Where did you get that literature? It seems to be from the watch's launch, no? Looks great, and I love and share your love for the watch-- but like I told you before, keep an eye on the fabric of the strap-- mine ripped along the lug pins at an inopportun...

The literature is...

...from the first Yearbook from JLC, if I am not mistaken. That first edition had a nice and well illustrated article about the AMVOX. The JLC Year Books are terrific publications. I missed #6 (2013) and #7 (2014), but I will continue the hunt. And I am p...

One More Vote for the "2"

Amvox 2 for me, original Ti or platinum, please! The original is a pure vision, an original idea, and an enduring classic... I think it's hard to beat. Best, Tim

They didn''t do better in the Amvox Line. I dreamt about a crazy evolution...

A GMT AND Chrono with a double pivoting case. Up and down for the Chrono. Let and right for the GMT. 4 - 3 for the Amvox II! Best, Tim. Nicolas

Amvox 2 for me...

Another thought

 By: tinker2 : October 17th, 2014-13:52
I also think the work of Magali Metrailler cannot be over-estimated enough. And I am not sure how much she had to do with the iterations after the Amvox II. I know she is no longer with the company, but perhaps Nicolas can elaborate?

She was in charge of the Amvox III, and 5.

 By: amanico : October 17th, 2014-14:08
Of course she was in charge of the Amvox II designs. The first, and the itérations. JLC wanted to go further in the design of the Amvox II. Personally, I don't find the open dial series was at the level of the first generation. The Racing was a bit better...

Magali Metrailler

 By: tinker2 : October 19th, 2014-11:41
I wasn't trying to pry about Ms Metrailler's own creative opinions on the later models, only whether she actually participated on those later designs. I actually appreciative the open faced versions but find them almost impossible form my old eyes to read...

Yes, the II is hard to beat. I would have loved to see a crazy version, though.

Like a double pivoting case... One for the chrono, one for, what? a GMT? Best, Nicolas

Another Amvox2 fan

I enjoy mine a lot of course: But I keep dreaming of that one, which has never been produced: All the best, Nicolas ...

Yes, the Spanish " Don Ramon " Edition never saw the light.
