Visiting the JLC manufacture

Oct 14, 2014,13:51 PM

Friends,

A few weeks ago I packed my bag light; I was only to bring the essential for one night and one day…

I jumped on a plane and flew south like the birds in the winter…

I stayed the night in a nice hotel, a place many of us here know very well…

I meet some old friends and made some new… We shared some nice meals and interesting discussions…

I paid my respect to a great man…

[Antoine Le Coultre 1803 - 1881]

I went inside to meet another very interesting gentleman…

[Mr. Christian Laurent]

He showed and explained some very impressive watches…

How their movement works, material, decoration…

I even tried some of them on my wrist…

Afterwards I got the chance go to kiss my favorite girl…

We haven’t seen each other in four long years, but she is still faithfully waiting for me…

She told me there were some strange data on display so I went to check it out…

Hm, maybe because the watch is old it is less water proof…?

I meet a lot more interesting people, had a many interesting discussions…

Saw several workshops… Very impressed by the restoration workshop…

Last time I visited that workshop, the setup was much smaller…

Got to see even more watches…

Some ultra-thin watches…

Some complicated watches…

Some blue watches…

But the moment I had been waiting for all day was saved until the end…

I finally got to see the Tribute to Geophysic!

A lot to like here! But also some details I didn’t really understand…

Compared to the original the Tribute looks huge, but in fact it’s not (38.5 mm in diameter).

The Planet sphere, a detail I have missed on to see on the back of JLC watches for some years now…

Very happy it is back…

Another detail I liked is the buckle that normally only goes on the high end watches…

The final test…

Unfortunately I only got to see the steel version, none of the Rose Gold or the Platinum versions were available for me to see…

It has been four years since I last visited the JLC Manufacture in Vallée de Joux.

Great to see this place again and to catch up with some old friends and also making some new friends!

smile

I would like to send a big thank you to my AD and to JLC for inviting me!

Hope to see you soon again.

Best

Blomman

So, what did you think about the TT Geophysic? Convinced or still dubitative? As for the mismatch in the water resistance of the DSA, I think the good answer is 100 meters. Not 200. Best, Nicolas

Well, I am still thinking about this one...

Reference Number Question...

 By: Tim_M : October 14th, 2014-20:11
Hi Blomman, This was a wonderful chronicle of your trip - one I hope to re-trace in the coming year! I do have one question about the reference number on the caseback of the Tribute you handled. It appears that this example was a prototype with the case r...

Tim, I have no information on this....

.... to experience & see some very nice objects (of desire ?). I'm sure the hours there were flying and you enjoyed yourself. As per to the RG & Pt versions, I would assume, that the early ones are already in several boutiques and maybe on wrists of happy...

I think the size of the Tribute is spot on!

38.5 mm is spot on for me! :) But, when you see them side-by-side.... The Tribute looks huge! Thank you, my friend. Best Blomman

Many thanks for your nice account

the finish of this is amazing. I'm usually not moved by display cases, but this is a huge exception!

Same here, and for me as well...! :)

It is on the border of un-wearable.... But of course, if JLC would gift it to me - I would wear it! ;) Best Blomman

I am feeling nostalgic already for this beautiful place.
