..some of you might remember Nicolas' great post about .. Elegant timepieces, featuring this
Reference, which is rather rarely seen, JLC Ref 1901, Cal 818 , issued in the 60ies;
Here Nicolas post: " A view on a flat watch, the Ref 1901 from Jaeger LeCoultre",
(from Sept, 2013);
Actually together with the Geomatic, she is my choice for elegant evenings,
such as opera, theatre or a fancy dinner..
I had been very lucky to pick her up from a very good friend, who parted from her,
some few years ago, and gave me the so welcome chance to get her into my home:
This thin, round piece ( ~6 mm height, 34 mm) with silver dial and just 2 hands, welded lugs
to me is the perfect reduction for an elegant " raison d' ĂȘtre":
- Indices of applied hour markers, with the exception @ 3 - there the signature
JaegerLeCoultre, which elegantly reinforces the applied JL @ 12
"Minimalist, pure, clean.. " that's how also Nico described her in 2013
No alarm, no Chrono, no date - just simple, elegant & discrete..
- slim,flat, very reduced, with no distractions - almost as if " just being there"
would be more than enough..
The icing on the cake I consider, that her case/ hands are from white gold and harmonize
so very nicely with the overall special appearance, and hold that hidden little mystery,
flawlessly, also as a special quality & joy for the owner & connoisseur.
- Presentation on the wrist is unobtrusive, her wear super comfy, alltogether
just a fine watch. - Not more, not less..
Thus, after this somewhat lengthy intro, just some few pics from a recent theatre evening,
where again, she has been a superb companion.
