1000 hour seal fell off!!!

Not that you're loosing confidence in the brand, but how could this happen? Was just stuck on my arm when I took it off one morning.
Can't believe this seal is just glued on-at least this is what it looks like.

Quite thin isnt it?

Is that just some king of glue JLC?

That is normal

When you pass the 1000 hours the seal falls off and you need to buy a new watch. Just kidding. It would be great to understand the conditions the watch lives in to see how the seal fell off. It really is just a minor cosmetic issue but interesting none th...

Too bad. At least this problem will be solved quickly.

 By: amanico : February 10th, 2013-11:10
Frist time i see that kind of issue. But we learn every day! Best, Nicolas

Really shows

 By: ChristianDK : February 10th, 2013-14:30
The fine craftmanship involved ;-). .......hmmm . BTW its a great watch, none the less. I have had mine for a number of years and it is still one of my favorites. Like Bill says, Its not abig issue. Best Christian

I love the brand, but....

 By: Rhyzen : February 10th, 2013-16:02
.... But I would find it unacceptable that the seal was simply glued on (especially considering that this is meant to be a diver's watch). Having said that, this is the very first thing I've encountered such an issue. Have you approached JLC about this al...

Ouch... but still it is a privilege to see what others don't.

 By: Ruckdee : February 10th, 2013-17:43
I would take photo and do things to it the way you would. Sorry to see this happen but if this is any consolation it is much less heartbreaking than a mechanical problem with the movement. Ruckdee

I like the fact that you ...

 By: sw-rick : February 11th, 2013-03:03
approached this with an open and "scientific" mindset. But I must admit I am also concerned, because not long ago Marv posted pictures of a ceramic bezel on the NSA that had fallen off. And it had the same glue footprint as we can clearly see from your pi...

Absolutely unacceptable

 By: chintu : February 11th, 2013-05:30
I think that this smacks of poor quality of the adhesives used or workmanship. Either way it is Unacceptable from a premium brand and by no stretch of logic can one treat this as "normal" occurence. I would strongly urge you to ask JLC to investigate the ...

agree

 By: Delamere : February 27th, 2013-03:27
I agree chintu, this is totally unacceptable and really disappointing for this brand and the premium they charge. Not the first example on PuristPro either of really poor adhesive-related quality issues with JLC.

sorry to hear that...

 By: FanFrancisco : February 11th, 2013-09:12
... i feel a bit of disappointed, as this watch is designed for diving, it can be just glued like this. you should send it to MJLC for repair, hopefully it can feedback to them so as to make better design for next watch. stefan

Wow! I thought it was actually set like Grand Seiko's medallions..

 By: Ed. W : February 11th, 2013-18:26
That's inexcusable under any circumstance (except a catastrophic drop maybe)

How does GS do it?

 By: ingmar : February 16th, 2013-08:04
I've seen a few on sale that were missing the medallion (older models). Glue is used in lots of applications. How many of us have seen the Mercedes medallion missing? Wouldn't particularly bother me- as long as it didn't come off.

Seems like I'm mistaken

 By: Ed. W : February 16th, 2013-08:34
after looking at some ones that have fallen off, it seems glued too. That's not to say setting it in would be impossible, but would probably require a lot more work and a much thicker caseback.

Not good!

 By: sidneyc : February 12th, 2013-02:47
I hope it gets fixed quickly! The one on my Master Compressor Automatique is still on it after 10 years but the white enamel "arrows" have come off the crown already!

shocking

Design and manufacturing flaw. Putting an emblem on an item promoting your brand and that very item falls apart, has to get you thinking.

Repair it yourself, it will be cheaper.

 By: cisco : February 13th, 2013-01:00
Just use some glue, like JLC did, it will cost you less and you will be sure of the result. For sure a minor problem if anyone can accept that kind of process... good luck Francois (sarcastic) ...

Glued !!!

 By: saniloc : February 14th, 2013-05:37
Just a mistake on the jlc description : The «1000 Hours Control» seal or marking, affixed or engraved on the back of your watch, certifies that it has undergone this observation programme in our laboratories and has successfully passed all tests. The latt...

wow

 By: robsallnow : February 14th, 2013-13:25
You've got to wonder why they don't think it would be better, classier, to have a solid, one piece, engraved back than some tacky (clearly not tacky enough!) faux gold medallian stuck to it. Keep the cheap stuck on gold seals for the box or the instructio...

Good Old Days

 By: Hans : February 16th, 2013-09:29
Hi, It just makes me remembering the good old days about the real craftmanship in JLC and in other brands. Now people really want to make thing short cut for time, cost and labour saving. It is just not only happen in JLC but also other famous brand names...

What a shame for the brand...

 By: Ilja : February 17th, 2013-15:47
...not that I'm surprised, but it's really disgusting for a brand that likes to play in the top 5 level. Hey you lousy developers - how about soldering instead of glueing?! Or at least a snap design!

Hi, jlc. thomsen. I forward you a message from the JLC customer service.

 By: amanico : February 21st, 2013-05:22
Hope all will be solved quickly. Best, Nicolas

Good news!

 By: jlc.thomsen : February 21st, 2013-07:20
Thanks Nicolas, Very surprised and happy to have this reaction-Good move from La Grande Maison-my watch is in for an overhaul @ JLC Münich-I will send them the documentations. Jens

Are you happy with your watch now?

 By: RicardetCie : February 27th, 2013-02:29
I own the same model & after a basic service the crown @ 4 was twisted...Hopefully the watch was fixed without charge...& came back after 3 months! A complete service is about £700 witch is 10% of the retail value of this watch. I love this brand ...

Fair enough so far

 By: jlc.thomsen : February 27th, 2013-03:05
I'm happy with the fact that JLC customer service has contacted me directly on this issue; they are watching the fans and listening to them which is great news. However I haven't heard from them since I replied last week, so I can't really tell you if I'm...

This is a good beginning :)

 By: RicardetCie : February 27th, 2013-03:37
Indeed most of the brands are "watching us";) & who knows it may improve the service! I believe that a watch is resalable because of the service after sales...At least JLC is more" in house/ fully integrated manufacture than AP which give better price...

Still love you JLC, but...

 By: jlc.thomsen : August 7th, 2013-11:59
Just to make an end to the story, and it wasn't a happy one. A Guy from technical service called me finally after weeks to explain the problems with the crown loosing the email and the 1000 hour seal that fell off. Just a lot of defensive bad excuses. No ...

Not a good sign!

 By: rex : August 12th, 2013-08:25
Am putting off the purchase of a JLC watch that I have had my eye on. Sigh ....
