Jean Lassale / Mathys cal 1200 and ist successors

Pierre-Mathys-designed Jean Lassale calibre 1200 was 1.2 mm thick  (hence its name ! )

It was later fabricated by Lemania under reference 1210 and used by Piaget (calibre 20P) and then by Vacheron Constantin (calibre 1160)

Jaeger LeCoultre calibre 849 is 1.85mm, so 0.65mm or 54% thicker than the Lassale/Lemania/Piaget/Vacheron movement + the Jubile Ultrathin watch has a domed front crystal that counts in / adds to the total thickness

Some quote that there has been a series of 12 Lassale watches at 2mm total thickness, but source is unclear, and I don't believe this is possible (I have seen Lassale watches with double flat crystals (front+back) which are 0.37mm thick each, and you inevitably need a little space for the dial and some for the 2 hands so 2mm is simply too short). However, I have seen several times the most common versions of Lassale which are 3.7mm total height

Wow...I'm in trouble

JLC did it to me again and just announced my next new watch, the Master Ultra Thin Jubilee. As much as I love my Master Ultra Thin 38, it just became a bit bloated. The Jubilee is simply stunning and the fact that it is in platinum is the icing on the cak...

At 4.05mm thick it is thinner than the excellent VC and Piaget manual models. Amazing piece.

... not sure it is thinner than VC and Piaget. actually this new one uses the same caliber 849 which is 1.85mm in thinness as they used for previous ultra thin models. the only difference compared with the last model is that this one uses solid instead se...

Marketing trick on thickness vs VC, and certainly not a record

The VC is 4.1mm. Making the JLC Jubile Ultrathin at "4.05mm" looks really like a trick to pretend to be the thinnest. Let's see what the watch looks like, specially the edge to see if it really is 'knife edge' as intended. As for the record claimed by the...

Curious. The 849 movement is listed as 1.85mm thick. What production watch would be thinner? On Jan 22, 2013, at 18:44,

I do believe it is the thinnest currently in production.

I would also be surprised if the watches using the

Cal. 849 are not the thinnest really practical, everyday watches. The design of the movement and case is of one project, I have never heard that any of the JLC Ultrathins are less usable than more ordinary watches, just much thinner and more elegant.

I have owned a Master Ultra Thin 38 for a couple years now

And have never found it to be unreliable or overly fragile. While I would never consider wearing while I was doing strenuous activity, like sports, for everyday wear I have been very happy with it.

I almost replaced my MUT 38 with an Altiplano last year

 By: rovermark : January 22nd, 2013-13:08
While the Altiplano is a fantastic watch I'm glad I didn't. I'd rather have a JLC and platinum is preferable to white gold.

I bet it will be the winner of the JLC Collection, this year. Very nice looking watch.

More to come in the detailled review... Best, Nicolas

For me it is the winner.

While I think the collection this year is quite stron,g and there are a number of pieces that I would like to have in my collection, the MUT Jubilee is the one that I NEED to have. They took what I liked about the MUT 38 and made it just a bit better. A l...
