Grand Opening of Jaeger-LeCoultre Marina Bay Sands Boutique, Singapore

Dec 19, 2010,12:18 PM

Last week, 15  Dec, Jaeger-LeCoultre officially opens their second Boutique in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands after their first at the Raffles Hotel.

It started with the 'ribbon cutting' ceremony and Lion Dance at 6:30pm and followed by a cocktail celebration at the highest point of Marina Bay Sands, Ku De Ta at Sands Sky Park.

6pm The front door of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Marina Bay Sands Boutique was 'dressed up' ...

After that was told the cutting ceremony was done with a twist.  Instead of the typical ribbon cutting, it would be 'opening the giant white watch strap' !

The theme for the evening was " White Elegance", which was also fresh and also relevant to the coming white Christmas.

A close up of the suspended white strap with a signed gold buckle ...

A picture of the hosts,  Mr Alexis de Laporte, JLC Managing Director for SE Asia & Australia and Mr Yves Meylan, JLC International Retail Director.

The emcee for the evening, Junita Simon, greeted all guests and invited Mr Alexis de Laporte to say a few words...

Mr Alexis de Laporte thanked guests and press members for taking time out to witness the opening of the second Boutique.

After which,  a short speech by Mr Yves Meylan..

Emcee invited the local Brand Ambassador Ms Kit Chan to join Mr Alexis de Laporte and Mr Yves Meylan for the opening ceremony ...

Passed the first loop ...

Unstrapping ...

Done!  Congrats JLC !

The Lions moved in ...

A bow to the front entrance...bestowing luck to the shop ...

The celestial animals entering the boutique to bless the space ...

Mr Yves Meylan and Ms Garina Tan, JLC PR and Communication Manager (SE Asia) accompanying the Lions ...

After blessing the space, it's time for the traditional  "cai ching" which meant "plucking the greens", and the mandarin word for greens/vegetables is sort of a chinese homonym  for the word with the meaning of wealth .

The Lions will peel the vegetables and  mandarin-oranges(symbolise gold), then 'spit ' some out and arrange the rest to form an auspicious chinese character.

The 'ching'  served on a gold plate ...

The Lions on all four ...

In the process of  taking the 'ching' ...

Trying to get the 'gold' from the lion's mouth ...

Both Alexis and Kit got one 'gold' each ...

Its Yves' turn ...

Phew! He got one too...

Trying his luck for another gold !

The peeled greens and oranges  and a lion paw ...

Both gentlemen wanted more for the boutique smile

A Lion formed the auspicious Chinese character 'wang' meaning 'Prosperous' ...

After that the lions presented to Alexis the good luck token (Wang) , the lions fired the confetti  ...

And presented the couplet wishing the  boutique and staff , good fortune and may all their wishes be fulfilled.

The local ambassador making a wish for JLC ...

Carrying the good luck token into the boutique ...
