JLC Navy Seals, civilian report and photos

Jun 27, 2010,08:22 AM

The JLC Navy Seals event was a once in a lifetime experience that reminded the commitment of the manufacture to excellence and purpose. This is the "unclassified" civilian report, really just some notes and iPhone pics as I came along the way. A very big thanks to JLC for the courtesy of the invitation and the amazing organization to give us this great experience. The event took place in Coronado Isle, at the legendary Coronado hotel. It was a celebration of the partnership between JLC and the Navy Seals. A few collectors of the NSA BH edition were invited to witness and understand the meaning of what it is to be a SEAL and the logo on the back of our watches. I know many have questions about the depth of the association between JLC and the SEALs. I don't know the answer, however what I know and saw is that the basis of it is founded on the deepest level of respect to the SEALs team and what they represent, the highest level of excellence in a combat unit and human mental and physical training. I wouldn't want to trivialize with a poor explanation so here is a link to the official SEAL site www.sealchallenge.navy.mil x

This two day event started with an opening dinner at the lawn of the Coronado property. You can see the thematic so well executed, the instruments, the JLC instruments some as have been tested in action and training by the SEALS.

One could spend some time in these camouflaged display tents, to see yes the watches, and also the equipment that is carried on missions.

The layout before the guests arrived and a perfect summer night.

The Incursor BH Limited edtion, which was presented at the end of the two days event. many of us where very ready for it smile

This LE has an unconventional but very appropriate presentation. A JLC/NS coin and a flashlight on the top. Manuals and an extra velcro strap on the inside.

Jerome Lambert, CEO of JLC with opening words. To the right Philippe Bonnay, President JLC North America.

Our friend, who flew all the way from Australia to experience these two days!

At the core, the watches as they were tested. For consideration the watches needed to perform in all the situations that the SEALs may find. Thru ammo rounds, water, ground and air the testing team reported back to JLC on the performance and the team's recommendations. The watches tested were in the room looking amazing. These are some of the press pics that were displayed in the central JLC room at the hotel.

Some of the collectors in attendance and ready for mission.

After breakfast we found these transport units to take us to the Base for an entire day of SEALs experience.

At the entrance of the base. We were allowed to take photos, just not of the SEALs themselves for obvious security reasons. The the Base we were started with an introduction to the SEALs organization and their philosophy in training. What these people go thru for graduation seems really impossible, and yet only the best of the best graduate after enduring a year of training. I am never complaining about my job after this smile

Some of the photos in the lobby, RESPECT!

Part of the experience included a presentation of the weapons and their distinct purpose and use. Some of these one only hears about in the movies, heat detection, door busters and other smile

SEAL's answering questions and demonstrating. All of these weapons were display safe and with no ammo around, obviously!

Then we moved off to the training course. Each of these obstacles duplicates potential situations.

That is as high as we were allowed to go smile

Back at the hotel we had a wonderful presentation by Jerome Lambert on the roots of the manufacture. He introduced us to the history of JLC, its founders and then we had a detailed explanation of the historical diving pieces and the evolution that followed all the way to the Navy Seals watches. Wonderful heritage and so many possibilities for the future.

A familiar face smile

The velcro strap included on the BH edition.

The commemorative coin included with the Incursor watch.

Some more shots of the exhibition and the displayed watches.

After the presentation had time to change into fatigues and uniform to go thru a mini version of Hell Week. No cameras allowed as the two hours of training and team building excersize were for real, sweaty and wet. For two hours we followed the team building routine that the trainees go thru every day. We started as individuals and we finished as a team, it was an amazing experience. On the finishing we were presented with the Incursor watch. An amazing way to connect and be part of of the Navy SEALs experience.

My most sincere thanks to JLC and the Navy SEALs for two unforgettable days.

If you made it this far, thanks for coming along!

Guille

Hey Guille, you look good with the automatic strapped! Seth at the JLC Boutique was gracious to send my buddy Adam (craniotes) and I the package on Wednesday. The dude was so accommodating throughout the entire process. My cap off to him and the Boutique....

This mix between a Military Training Camp and a social event makes me think about the pictures of the holidays of a comic opera army. I don't think it is positive for the image of a prestigious manufacture like JLC. When you do something related with the ...

While I'm sure that more than one battle-hardened SEAL had a private chuckle at the expense of the country club set having a go at their facilities, I fail to see how this association cheapens the manufacture or one of our country's foremost elite fightin...

...but the SEAL store is just plain embarassing. That's one of the reasons why I don't really get this association/partnership - it's not a million miles away from the rubbish on that site...

I can relate to your point about this unconventional combination.

And the part when you said "serious message". Actually I had a similar although less intense feeling when first viewing the pics. But I have to say I agree with Adam (craniotes) on most points he raised also. So let's keep it positive and see how JLC and ...

but in a profoundly negative way. And we are obviously not alone. Is no one prepared to talk about the elephant in the room here? Are JLC management now descended that far into Groupthink they are coming up with this? I accept the need for the military

You may add another voice to the "choir of complaint" ..

I was really hoping that they stepped down (and away from) on the NS marketing ... I really love the diving alarm, but a regular production model without the "co-branding" is something which is clearly and sorely missing from the catalogue. Rick

Wonderful!

Hello Starman! I appreciate your opinion and respect it very much. The Navy SEALs IMO are NOT just about guns, war, etc.. and I don't want it to get political so I'll use this example: There people out there who associate expensive watches as needlessly e...
