"Still only a Seiko"
Aug 14, 2009,02:55 AM
Have you handled a simple Grand Seiko? eg SBGW001?
The SBGW001 is beautifully made and is in my view very high end (I have a bunch of JLCs and a GO and BP). Yes, some people say to me "it's a Seiko" (rarely, "just a Seiko" interestingly) - but I don't care. The watch is beautifully made, so why does it matter that it says "Seiko"? In fact I marvel at how a company can have such a diverse range and produce such interesting watches and movements.
Arguably more fascinating than PP.

A very special watch: the Seiko Galante
By: foversta : August 13th, 2009-13:03
The Galante collection is the high-end collection from Seiko (in fact, with still Seiko on the dial). These main features are great finishings and... a very special design. You can easily recognize a Galante through the special shape of the second hand. T...

definitely no watch for me, FX! Do you consider it a watch for yourself? It shows what artisanry can do, but shall we really do anything we possibly can ? If there will be a high-end Seiko for me, the Grand Seiko GMT, please! My two penny worth, anaesdoc

First impression was of a roulette wheel in a porthole. IMVHO Seiko will never ever make 'high-end' watches. They may cost as much as true high end watches but at the end of the day.....it's still only a 'Seiko'. D in W

Seiko's rock in their own way and are high-end in a Nippon kind of way. I have a Seiko Premier Chrono (SNA586P1) and the gold and ss and lugs remind me of an Omega Connie, and perhaps a bit of a homage to Patek and Breguet. Nice touch by the Japanese. Swi...

It reminds me of the first watches I saw from Antoine Preziuso, with some Versace elements added. It is eccentric, but Consequently so. Regards, Marcus
