RSC - NYC . . . .Happy to have one home

I know at times there is some discussion as to what Rolex will service in the US and particularly Rolex NY. Clearly there are some great watchmakers here as well as around the country. But I was dropping off a modern piece for some in warranty service so I decided to have them service my birth year red 1680 as well.  I've owned it for several years but don't know the service history on it prior to me, and while it seemed to be running alright, the "official" service and piece of mind was important enough to give it a shot.  They ask for a $150 fee for the service review on vintage pieces, and then if you elect to proceed with the service it's applied to the cost.  I have the original bezel insert and top hat crystal safely in a box so when I gave it to them for service it had a service crystal installed . . .service replaced with service essentially. They wanted to replace my faded insert and I declined which was not an issue.  The dial and hands are faded to a mellow cream color but with no issues so there was no problem. They do say if the dial/hands require replacement while they're servicing they will contact you (before doing anything and you will have the opportunity to decline and tell them to stop), but I think this is something most of us would know before submitting . . a flaking or decaying dial I would send to one of our aftermarket watchmakers to stabilize.  In any case they serviced the movement, tightened the clasp (folded link bracelet is safely in a box as well so this is a later version for daily wear), crystal, crown and a light light touch up on case and bracelet  It's not cheap, but overall I'm glad it was done . . .and just thought I'd share the story and a few quick iphone shots. HAGWE all! smile

They admitted from the start that they were still backed up from the Holiday season as they close entirely around Christmas and the New Year, so for both the modern and vintage piece they said it would be longer than usual. But they were good with communi...

thats actually very fast [nt]
