Egiziano pool testing

 By: BluNotte : August 6th, 2011-07:39
Ciao PanePurists! I hope all of you are enjoying a beautiful weekend! Well, today i want to present an experiment that i have been thinking of for quite sometimes now. The question is, how VISIBLE exactly is the Egiziano when placed in total darkness unde...

Fun experiment...

 By: ocwatching : August 6th, 2011-08:24
Stephen..I am sure it would perform well in a 10 meter pool... the whole time I was reading this thread, I was thinking...THAT STRAP..THAT STRAP! I was not worried about the 341..how did the strap survive?!? Take care my friend...

It did fine my friend!

 By: BluNotte : August 6th, 2011-08:52
After all, it came from a blue crocodile! The Egi will last at 100meters! I will ! Ciao Stephen

317 test

 By: grigo : August 6th, 2011-09:51
I tested my Pam 317 today in the pool and it worked just fine. NOT that I ever doubted it. Best regards, George

I was actually trying to show the visibility in total darkness

 By: BluNotte : August 6th, 2011-18:58
I know that i didnt capture it well, wasn't doubting it or what. Will try to do better! Stephen

Guess what.

 By: grigo : August 7th, 2011-08:24
I was visiting a cave with my kids today in the South of France and they Turned the lights off. The lume of the 317 was the only thing that you could see in the pitch black. It was a great expérience. Best regards, George

That must have been nice!

 By: BluNotte : August 7th, 2011-08:32
I had a similar experience, and i got this from a cave in Japan! Ciao Stephen...

Panny dippin'... ye~ah!

 By: Davo : August 6th, 2011-16:25
Good effort, Stephen. And good to see. Thanks for sharing.

Anyone go swimming with the Egiziano strapped on?

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 6th, 2011-22:03
I fear since it's so big, it'll make you sink and be your anchor to the ground floor! :P Interesting experiment BluNotte! Cheers, Anthony

I do!

 By: BluNotte : August 7th, 2011-08:20
Actually did it a few times in my pool, zero affectance! Cheers Anths! Stephen

With that lume

 By: meislergeisler : August 7th, 2011-04:40
you wouldn't get close to any enemy ship... However, it's a cool display of the Super Luminova's ability to glow - at least for a while. Thanks for sharing this fun experiment, meislergeisler

Indeed

 By: BluNotte : August 7th, 2011-08:21
WHich makes me think, how did those guys approach the enemy ships back then with a glow that is said to be 10 times that of the Super Luminova? Well, they did and are deemed heroes! Ciao Stephen

Real test in water !!! Great...

 By: colantotte : August 7th, 2011-09:44
At least, you have showed us how this tool watch is really glowing down there. Cool and thanks... Cheers,

Grazie and glad you enjoyed it!

 By: BluNotte : August 7th, 2011-16:59
It performed wonderfully! Ciao! Stephen

Great Experiment !

 By: flamenco : August 7th, 2011-17:54
Good to see that you are putting it to good use ! And not just keeping it a safe queen I do admire your courage and adventerous spirit ! Keep it coming. Thanks again for sharing

Arigatou gozaimasu!

 By: BluNotte : August 7th, 2011-19:15
This is the way any watch, especially a Panerai is meant to be used, to it's purported extreme! The 341 is definitely NO safe queen from me, it's a bomb king! Hwahwa! Ciao Stephen

You're one brave man, Steven!

 By: i_am_Sam : August 8th, 2011-07:10
But that's one proper test for a Panerai For water proof and luminosity Thanks for sharing such a cool test Best, Sam

Been wanting to do this one for quite awhile Sam!

 By: BluNotte : August 8th, 2011-07:32
Finally got the means and methods! Gotta think of more rough ones! Ciao Stephen

Maybe bring it for a dive in the ocean? :)

 By: i_am_Sam : August 8th, 2011-07:40
Unfortunately I'm not much of an adventurer or someone with a brave soul .. If not, I wouldve try diving with a Panerai Best, Sam

Unfortunately i dont go to the beach that often

 By: BluNotte : August 8th, 2011-07:55
But an idea that i would love to try one day! the skys the limits! Ciao Stephen

Cool test mate

 By: Hororgasm : August 8th, 2011-11:20
Here's a suggestion to next test. Dry and 50m chronometric accuracy, and the differences, if any. Best, Horo

I would do that mate

 By: BluNotte : August 8th, 2011-18:02
First of all though, gotta figure out how to get to 50m! Ciao Stephen

Does water pressure affect chronometric qualities?

 By: Hororgasm : August 8th, 2011-18:19
I have been thinking of a test on several diving watches for some time. There should be a water pressure device, I don't really know what it is called, to conduct test, simulating diving depths. Would be great to use one and test our diving watches. Best,...

I personally think not

 By: BluNotte : August 8th, 2011-19:17
As the purpose of the case is to fully protect the movement from outside influence, and unless you are talking about magnetic influence which of course will affect the movement if you leave it close by to a strong source, with regards to water pressure an...

Yes that's the ones I am talking about

 By: Hororgasm : August 8th, 2011-19:37
Think some diving outfits have them as well, but I am not sure to what water pressure levels it can get to Would be great if there is a immediate before and after comparison. Best, Horo

The one that my AD back in Tokyo had

 By: BluNotte : August 8th, 2011-20:19
Could pump it up to about 200 meters, or about 20 atmospheres. The Egi goes only till 10 so i guess it's sufficient! I used to test them for the water resistance 1st, then have the watch placed on a witchi, as far as i remember, zero affectance. Ciao Step...

Cool Post Stephen

 By: Tony A.H : August 8th, 2011-17:39
so you immersed that Beauty WITH the Blue Gator ??! i Guess you don't Baby your Straps much :0))))))) thanks for sharing. Tony

Absolutely not Tony

 By: BluNotte : August 8th, 2011-18:03
If it's a PAM, the straps are carefully chosen so that they can go ANYWHERE! As you probably notice, im not a strap fanatic, one watch one strap policy, of course i wont do this with a Lange, but cause it's a PAM, say welcome home! Ciao Stephen

Fair enough

 By: Tony A.H : August 9th, 2011-05:02
i'm not a Strap Nut either :0)))) but you seem to know your Stuff (Straps) and aware of what you doing.:0)) Cheers

Yes, i sure do Tony!

 By: BluNotte : August 9th, 2011-07:22
Cheers! Stephen

Nice try!

 By: BluNotte : August 10th, 2011-08:36
The rafia rope is very appropriate for a Panerai mate, it is utilitarian and tough! I am waiting for you and Jessie to come visit! Don't hesitate, really, anytime! Ciao Stephen

No worries! [nt]

Hi, Stephen, Awesome lume on your Egiziano. When are you taking it for a dip in salt water? Judging from your photos, you watch is just begging for it Always a pleasure to read your posts, my friend. Best, Alex Here's my only one having a go in the ocean ...

Hey hey!

 By: BluNotte : August 10th, 2011-20:33
It's been awhile since i heard from you! Trust all is going well, all ready for the big day soon? Hah! I will have to find a clean ocean before i even consider doing that! Grazie and i will send you an email soon! Ciao Stephen

Take a swim with it on...

 By: patrick_y : August 11th, 2011-12:44
I think it'd be really cool to swim with a watch like that on the wrist... We ought to take a dip... A very nice test from an individual who actually uses his PAM 341.

As i said in one of my reply above

 By: BluNotte : August 11th, 2011-16:27
I ACTUALLY do swim with it bro! A very nice feeling if i may admit. Ciao! Stephen

I have not had such a pleasure...

 By: patrick_y : August 12th, 2011-09:27
I have not had the pleasure of swimming with a watch for ages... The last time I swam with a watch on was in excess of a decade ago. And this was done with my trusty and beloved Casio watch. I very nearly went swimming with a watch on back in May while on...

The feeling is great bro!

 By: BluNotte : August 12th, 2011-20:13
Luckily indeed NOBODY did throw you into the deck pool, i would sudder to think what would happen to your platinum beauty! Ciao Stephen

Wait, so you've been submerging

 By: Jester : August 13th, 2011-21:07
the 341, along w/ the blue alligator strap a few times already? How's the strap holding up?

Exactamondo!

 By: BluNotte : August 18th, 2011-01:41
Hey there Alec, It's been holding up perfectly fine! No worries on that end! Ciao Stephen

LOL Stephen, a bit risky no? putting a divers watch in water!!!! LOLOLOL

 By: Miranda : August 14th, 2011-10:45
thansk for the post, loved it, I will fill my bath with water, turn the light off, and condust my own experiment LOLOL maybe i should out of the bath no? Imran

Absolutely NOT!

 By: BluNotte : August 18th, 2011-01:42
Ciao Imran, If it could not even take a little pool dipping, how could it have gone to war? Impossible! Do share some shots with us if you dare to do it! Ciao Stephen

Can I play? ;)

 By: H2F : August 23rd, 2011-03:44
Love to see the Egi in its natural (uw) environment Stephen! Here's mine when we were in Bali in April Was good catching up with you earlier bro! ))) Horace...
