pam is good, and a lot of other brands are better.

as a newbie, of cos it is aesthetics that comes first. and amongst a lot of beautiful watch brands, i feel that panerai is offering to me this highly recognizable character, and this character is also its originality all through its history. that's almost what attracts me the most.

i personally enjoy sharing with people my fun in watches, more than my fun in the cars i drive. with panerai, i am very happy sharing this pleasure with the friends around me, somehow happier than when i am wearing other watches.

there's a point i dont find logical, but i think the passion of this community is making me happier with my pam.

So, why Panerai...???

This brand seems to engender more passion than many, and it seems to appeal to a broad spectrum of collectors with otherwise quite diverse interests. Accordingly, it would be interesting to hear what it is about this brand that sparked your interest and m...

The watch speaking to you. This Brand spoke volumes. The fist time I saw the watch and then tried it on I was hooked. I also had the good or bad fortune, some may say, to have a serious Panerai collector whispering into my ear. When I came to my senses an...

excellent point bill even though as you say

it is not about the money it helps knowing that your panerai will still be valuable down the road and maybe even more so. the used car analysis is a great one it is so true with many watches being discounted 30 and 40% from the door. not only does looking...

Well, to be complete, John 3 and Bill

It depends of the models... With some Panerai , you can loose quite a lot of money... For example, the Tantalium 172/192, or even the Pam 163, Ans some rad platinum or white gold... It cannot be said that all the Panerai watches are able to hold their val...

it seems to be the simpler the better

which is fine with me because they appeal to me the most. obviously the pre-v stuff is way up there price wise but now we are starting to see a little craziness even with the zero and the fiver the zero is seen on some sites for 1,500 over retail. it seem...

As for the pre v Stuff, it looks normal that the prices are high, as they are "the Real Mac Coy", and a true piece of History, and authenticity...Something that you will never see again, a defintively closed era. What amazes me is the price, the value tha...

There are so many reasons!

I hope the Panerai partisans don't mind my entrance into this . . .

. . . conversation, as I've never owned a Panerai, nor do I contemplate owning one. I can appreciate the Panerai gestalt, but like everyone else who isn't in the Panerai club, the adulation and devotion that Panerai inspires is a baffling enigma that defi...

you'll find many PAM enthusiasts also own different brands...so I would speak to watches..

in general. While there are many personal reasons people collect Panerai, I wouldn't say that it is any more unusual than any other brand. I think in many cases, it's not so much the brand as differentiator but its people who collect the brand itself. Fro...
