Think of it as spreading the happiness

Apr 10, 2011,10:46 AM

Sure, your dear friends may be missed, but think of all the joy you've been able to spread to others by making their dream watches just a little bit easier to attain smile

Each one is clearly special, and knowing you, it's obvious that the new additions to the family will be special as well!

Thing we do for love: Part #3

By: blomman Mr Blue : April 7th, 2011-14:36
We do a lot different things for love… And for our love for watches… When I started with watches my intention was that ALL watches I get should follow me thru my life, for better and for worse… Now I must confess that I have joined the group of us here th...

Sometimes sacrifices have to be made...

for the things you LOVE and what a great DSA you have! I have been lucky in that I have yet to been forced to move pieces to add a piece. However, I do see it happening with a few of the new releases in SIHH and with my wife's decreasing patience for my e...

Indeed better “to have loved and lost”…

But it still hurts when the love is still there… Thank you, OC! Best Blomman

What a Love Story - no Story for Life !! - great read :))

 By: hs111 : April 7th, 2011-15:03
Blomman, my friend: - what a great story, no not just a story, probably several stories: I can relate to some of your decisions, but maybe also to some agony: Which one to keep, which ones to let go - but always for a higher, to a dearer level ! Personall...

Yes, several stories in one…

I think I understand

 By: sancerre : April 7th, 2011-16:38
I still miss a number of watches that I have churned over the past few years (most notably an Amvox I and an IWC St. Exupery UTC). Having said that, I am happy with where I am; in short, what I traded for made it worth it. It is quite entertaining to see ...

I remember when she came to me! Ah, so nice – big and bold, but still classic and beautiful! Happy times! Thank you, Sancerre! Please send some Square love my way! Best Blomman

Now that is a great post.

I love this kind of story. A journey thru time. Talking about passion, life decision, love, sacrifice and purpose. It is an inspiring read. Thank you for your wonderful post. Here is to those that have to leave and the new ones that are coming Best Tyler

A nice tribute to the past. I wonder what the future holds? Maybe in 3-5 years you can look back on this post and see the evolution of your collection. -MW

My future..?

By: blomman Mr Blue : April 8th, 2011-13:49
My future is very alarming! For me the DSA is not a set of two watches my goal is a set of four…! Thank you, MW! Best Blomman

If you’re not there yet - you are a lucky man, George! Because it’s at this point the real hurting starts! Best Blomman

It is unavoidable, Blomman.

 By: amanico : April 7th, 2011-21:52
Better, it is a good thing. Your taste maturates, you are getting the " Creme de la Creme, " which is sadly quite expensive, but you can't hardly compare what you let go with what came or has to come, don't you think? We should put some order in our colle...

Well said Nico

Well, you should now…

Thank you, Mark!

Yes, I have been fortunate to live with these watches for several years. But in the best of worlds - they would still be with me! Best Blomman

It's called "evolution"

 By: nilomis : April 8th, 2011-02:51
Blomman We evolve. Our tastes change, what was a must have is no longer important. My example: When I started, I could kill for a Breitling. Today, no way. A JLC was, at that time, an old man watch, not for me. Today, is the object of desire. And life goe...

Actually, I'm sure you could kill for one or 2 well chosen Breitlings. :)))

 By: amanico : April 8th, 2011-02:59
A Vintage Time only Super Ocean, which looks a bit like a blend of DSA Europe and a FF... Or a Chrono for the Royal Canadian Air Force, for example... Hmmm? Best, Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2011-04-08 02:59:29

Thanks but ... no

 By: nilomis : April 8th, 2011-06:41
Nicolas, When I learned more about movements and how the watch vendors plays with movements, I was truly disappointed with Breitling and some other vendors. I fell hard to "fall in love" with a watch, no matter how beautiful, if inside it carries a vanill...

By: blomman Mr Blue : April 8th, 2011-14:36
Evolution comes sooner or later. You are right. Objects of desire do change! But I do not agree with you when it comes to Breitling. Modern, yes! Not my cup of tea at all with one exception the Super Ocean. But vintage – I have seen some really nice...

Nicely put Blomman

 By: Ubik : April 8th, 2011-11:10
I also am reaching a similar point in my collecting life, it will be hard to part with some watches and very easy to part with others, but as our tastes mature our pallette craves more refined and complicated tastes. Bravo.

I think it’s important to have a plan…

By: blomman Mr Blue : April 8th, 2011-14:42
Or a goal when doing this! My goal is pretty obvious! What goal do you have? I have noticed your vintage divers theme – a stunning line-up! Thank you, Ubik! Best Blomman

A good question

 By: Ubik : April 11th, 2011-08:31
My time has been tight for the last few days, tomorrow I will try and give you a proper response to this.

Themes not goals

 By: Ubik : April 12th, 2011-09:34
It's an interesting question and one that has made me pause and ask myself if I do have a plan or a goal. I'm not sure that I do in such a precise sense, say in the way some collectors are compleatists and want one example of every particular style of wat...
