JLC SIHH 2013: Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface.

 By: amanico : February 3rd, 2013-00:22
2 watches in one. The Reverso is the essence of Duality, with its two sides. The new Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface ( which we will awfully call GRUT ) pushes the duality a step forward. You know the Duoface. It was a lovely Reverso in a GT case ( 42, ...

Very nice article Nico...

 By: moc : February 3rd, 2013-00:57
essential and clear. I don t like the rg version much, but the other 2 are very nice. My fav combo woud have been the small second white dial and the blue...joking aside, obviously the blue version is the most appealing(and JLC knows that, hence the boutiqu...

Like the Red, the tone of blue is hard to take in picture.

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:05
Depending on several factors, such as the angle of your camera when you take a picture of this " Blue ", and the light, the surroundings, and so on, you will have very different outcomes. I am now used to that phenomenon, as I had big issues with the Red ...

Yeah yeah yeah, don't need a push....

 By: moc : February 4th, 2013-10:49
I am already in trouble, like you and many others.......:) :) It's fun to be in trouble... Mo

Thanks, Nicolas. Again, I think...

 By: watchme : February 5th, 2013-06:11
that I JLC should either change the "Night/Day" to "AM/PM", or move the 12 and 24 hour indications to the 9 and 3 position on the subdial. From midnight to noon being "night" just doesn't make any sense and flies in the face of every world-time and dual-t...

I thought you were speaking of the Duometre, on your former answer. ;)

 By: amanico : February 5th, 2013-07:54
Yes, I agree that there are few things to change to be close to perfection... Best, Nicolas

As usual Nico...

 By: Andy : February 3rd, 2013-01:19
I was happy with the SS version due to the balanced position of the 'Reverso' then you show the blue version :) Your an evil man..! This would compliment anybody who also has the Rouge reverso and be a little different at the same time....will you and Mo ...

Lets see Andy .....

 By: moc : February 3rd, 2013-02:15
Jlc is not making it easy, but again this belongs to the "achievable " category, not many brands can do that, I mean, to offer products on the relatively bottom of the price list and make them so desirable.... I love this way Mo

This is true..

 By: Andy : February 3rd, 2013-02:27
I can't really think of any other manufacturer that cover such a range from very affordable, right up to grande complications. Look forward to seeing your rouge :) Andy.

What if I tell you this piece "stole my heart"? Its dual simplicity is sublime.

 By: Ruckdee : February 3rd, 2013-01:29
Thank you very much for these exclusive preview of probably the manufacture's next bestseller. Ruckdee

Without a doubt......

 By: moc : February 3rd, 2013-02:13
Another selling hit.... Mo

Will it be the " Blue " or the MUT 39 Jubilé?

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:10
I don't know which one will be the best seller among these 2.... I would bet on the MUT Jubilé, though. I can understand why this " Blue " has taken your heart. Defintely. Best, my good friend. Nicolas.

The Stainless Steel version....

 By: Rhyzen : February 3rd, 2013-04:24
.... with its clean lines and retro styling nicely packaged in model dimensions, is a clear winner. On the other hand, I'm not too sure about the rose gold version: the placement of the Reverso wording looks out of place, while the double applied indices ...

I share same view as yours about the rose gold version.

 By: Ruckdee : February 3rd, 2013-04:35
The "12" I am quite okay with but I don't get the relocation of "Reverso" as there is still plenty of space up above. Ruckdee

Like i said, you are looking at prototypes, not sure the definitive watches will look

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:12
The Same. But all comments are very welcome. JLC will certainly read your feedbacks, and maybe this will convince them to bring some modifications to the protos? Best, Nicolas.

Blue

 By: rnaden : February 3rd, 2013-06:35
My choice would be the blue one. I like the simplicity of just the two handed time without the seconds. With a traditional piece like this, it just adds that much vintage feel into it, IMO. Richard

I totally understand you. Still, I am wondering...

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:16
What if JLC put this very same dial on a TTR 31 case??? Hmmm.... On another side, people would say that JLC is playing a too easy card, if they installed the blue dial on a TT R UT 31. Food for thought. Best, Nicolas.

A watch I appreciate a lot.

 By: foversta : February 3rd, 2013-08:33
...especially in PG. This Duoface has everything to be successful: a bit too large but its thin design is very appealing. Thanks for your presentation. Fx ...

I am happy to see that you chose another version than the Blue.

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:22
It is all about personal preferences and tastes, here, but I have to say that if the " Blue " is a real eye catcher, the two others are far from lacking charm and interest. Personally, I am in big love with the grained dial of the stainless steel version,...

thanks for the report , I have one question about the strap of the blue , in the official website it shows with Fagliano strap ! It gonna be limited or boutique edition ?

I think that IF the Fagliano strap is available and that you put such a condition

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:24
To place an order on a " Blue ", any JLC Boutique will do its best to give you satisfaction. IF the Fagliano strap is available, go for it, it is much better than the original strap, by far. Best, Nicolas.

Many Thanks

 By: 4Js : February 3rd, 2013-11:33
I'm placing my order for the blue. It looks fantastic. Thanks for making this the first report! Best, Joe

Wow, Joe!, that was fast.

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:28
Follow your heart, my friend. Best, Nicolas

I liked this detailed report

By: Mark in Paris : February 3rd, 2013-14:31
I'm always confused when dealing about Reversos as I wasn't really a fan of this watch, in spite of the fact it's a heavy weight in Horlogerie history. I don't know where it comes from but it's certainly a subjective subconscious background thing. Anyway,...

About case size, according to amanico's review of the rouge...

 By: Ruckdee : February 3rd, 2013-17:59
...this new GRUT Duoface should share same case width and length as the Rouge, only the thickness is different. I copied the below information from the Rouge review. "The dimensions of the case are exactly the same than for the other Grande Reverso Ultra ...

Correct. [nt]

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:35

What I am saying is that it is not an Ultra Thin watch.

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2013-00:34
Yes, it is thicker than the Reverso Ultra Thin, 1, 67mm thicker, to be precise, which makes a big difference when you put them side by side. But the extra dial on the verso side explains that difference in height. I am happy to see the blue dial on the Du...

One of them is very very tempting..

 By: fernando : February 3rd, 2013-19:25
but like you said I would have preferred it as a 1931 UT version. Many thanks for the review Nico. Best fernando

Beautiful for sure BUT...

 By: axel : February 5th, 2013-05:03
I still prefer the dials of the Duoface reference 270.840.544. That perfect balance is still not matched IMO. In particular, for the second dial, the black one, I would have liked to see the 3, 9 and 12 numerals. Also, I am not fond of the small seconds s...

It is always interesting to read this kind of elaborated input. Thanks, Axel.

 By: amanico : February 5th, 2013-07:57
I can't say which one I prefer... Since I would prefer the verso dial of the former, in the case and with the dial of the latest one... Best, Nicolas.

Wonderful post mon ami, merci.

 By: Mr.Gatsby : February 5th, 2013-10:05
What can I say? Spoilt for choice right there. What will you choose Nico, if you also include the Rouge? If you put a gun to my forehead and make me choose i prolly would still opt for the Rouge since the red is so stunning on the dial. Otherwise, I will ...

Personally, I would still go for the Rouge.

 By: amanico : February 5th, 2013-10:07
And if I was an Evil, a TRUE Evil, I would harass JLC to install a blue dial in my Rouge... ;) Best, Nicovlad.

Are you saying that ....

 By: amanico : February 5th, 2013-10:18
We are TWO Evils? ;) Best, Nicolas

I like it a lot!

By: blomman Mr Blue : February 5th, 2013-13:16
Thank you for this report, Nicolas! My preferences goes to the Blue... But since it wont be offered for sale in Sweden, I will have to pass (maybe)... ;) But do I prefer the Blue before the Red..? I don't know since I haven't seen any of them in the metal...

Well, there are some friendly JLC Boutiques, my friend.

 By: amanico : February 5th, 2013-15:35
I am sure some will be happy to help you on that matter... Best, nicolas

Great intro

 By: spinoza : February 5th, 2013-18:13
Dear Nicolas, Thank you for the report and photos that are pure eye candy. As for the watch, the increase in size remains questionable for me. But one has to see the watch in the flesh for a final verdict. Best Andreas

thank you for a great report, Nicolas.

 By: ChristianDK : February 6th, 2013-11:14
A great writeup. and I will reserve my final opinion about the watch for when I see it on the wrist. But somehow it doesnt sing to me. I love the thin case but the big button kills it. I love the front dial which is retro classic but the black dial seems ...

This is the reason why I prefer the TTR UTT 1931 to the Duoface.

 By: amanico : February 6th, 2013-22:29
I was never keen on this pusher, either... On the former, as well as on this one. But these dials... Hmm.... Best, my friend. Nicolas

I am with you, Nicolas...

 By: axel : February 16th, 2013-16:12
One of reason for preferring the pre-harmonised version is the pusher. It is quite a long time that I am waiting for MY perfect Duo but it has not yet arrived... :) Ideally I would like to see the size and thickness of the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin but wi...

I hate that pusher! Preferring instead to have sunken button like the older GT version.

 By: Ruckdee : February 16th, 2013-19:01
I feel the button is too prone to accidental activation and the time may be easily off by one hour without me knowing it. Okay, it is a paranoia all right but aesthetically the watch should look better also without the one button. The Reverso Grande GMT i...

Agreed. But I don't think we have to fear an accidental use of the pusher.

 By: amanico : February 16th, 2013-22:53
It is not that prominent. A coaxial pusher would have been THE top. ;) Best, Nicolas.
