JLC MUT Moon in Steel or Gold?

Sep 08, 2011,13:12 PM

Hello Chut,

I am happy to say that my Master Ultra Thin Moon 39 arrived today from my authorized dealer - I am wearing it as I type this.  I chose stainless steel, and I can say you will not be disappointed with the "dressiness" of the watch in SS.  I am a prosecutor and wear suits on a daily basis, and the watch is perfect as a dress watch.  In fact, it is stunning!  I hope to post a wrist shot soon!  The watch is gorgeous, and exudes class.

By the way, this is my first post here - the MUT Moon is my first "real" watch.  I also own a quartz Tag Heuer 2000 (my first watch), an Omega Seamaster (also quartz - still kicking myself for not buying an automatic), a Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic and a Longines Master Collection full calendar chronograph with moonphase.  All were much more modest purchases, but they all increased my interest in fine watches.  As I came to learn more about watches, though, I became enamored with JLC and was finally able to obtain one of my own.  I was not disappointed when I opened the package!

Good luck with your decision.  You will not be disappointed either way, regardless of which you choose.

JLC MUT Moon in Steel or Gold?

Looking to add a dress watch to my collection and am considering a Master Ultra Thin Moon in Steel or Rose Gold. The steel version looks crisp and modern with the silver dial on black strap, and I've always worn either steel or white gold. Does a steel dr...

Welcome here, chut.

The MUT Moon is such a cool watch that you can't go wrong here. It is just a matter of lifestyle and taste. I would say that the SS is more understated, cold, discrete and polyvalent, when the RG plays a warmer card, and a dressier register, maybe. Please...

I love the warmer touch of the gold version.

I find the SS version a bit "too cold" for my taste. But both are great watches. Fx

I had the same dilemma...

...before the MUT Moon was released, I saw the pink gold Master Control Chrono at my AD, and the watch hit me like a bullet between the eyes. The color of the gold, the play of light off the silver dial, and the blued hands were enough for me. I realize t...

Steel dress watches are perfectly fine with me. But in this case...

...the rose gold is so sweet and it matches so well with that dial color. I would go with the gold if I had the $$$ to spend. Ruckdee

Hopefully you will enjoy the camaraderie here and we will see more of you. Just a thought: if you like the MUT but prefer WG, you could consider the 'old school' MUT which was available in WG and also platinum. If we ask very nicely, Amanico is certain to...

gold on a black strap for me please.... [nt]

I have a préférence for the SS version.

As you are a guy who visits construction sites, I would say that the SS version is more adapted to your line of work as it is les s prone to getting dinged or scratched against a wall or a beam. Of course, if you are a very careful person there is no prob...

I prefer SS in most watches...

...but it depends on your planned use. For dress, gold is classic. For daily use, go for SS. There's nothing wrong with SS for a high-end watch. AP first proved that decades ago with the RO followed by PP and many others. And today, SS is more acceptable ...

Still on the fence

Yesterday, I was set on the RG. Today, I'm leaning towards the SS. Today's (fuzzy) logic is: if I go for an SS for daily use now, I can look towards a Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire in RG in the future! I'll give myself a week to decide. Like Nicolas says...

Normally I would say SS without hesitation! But on this particular watch… I don’t know! When I saw the RG version in the metal I got totally smitten! But like Nicolas said – either way, you can’t go wrong! GL, and please let us kno...

Thanks again for all the suggestions. It was a tough decision, but in the end I chose the Master Ultra Thin Moon in steel. It's a lovely piece that I will enjoy wearing for a long time....

You couldn't be wrong, with any of these.

But I must admit a light preference of the understated and cold stainless steel version. Superb. Nicolas.
