Dave -- wow! My head is still spinning from looking at this photo

Is that a PSM 42mm Resilience in SS I spy in there? IMO it is an absolutely beautiful watch, with a lot of soul. I have had my eye on since it came out, and after am even more in love after playing with it at SalonQP. I think that I would have actually bought it if it wasn't for a very unfortunate sales experience...

Would love to hear your impressions of this watch... the design, fit/finish, wearing impressions, etc, especially in the context of your magnificent collection.

Also, did you try on the 38mm before choosing the 42mm? Any comparative thoughts between the two?

I'm hoping my not-too-distant future has a PSM in it... though these days I am praying for a Shimoda in SS with the same slim case and gorgeous enamel dial as the Resilience.

Thanks for posting these pictures - a nice afternoon treat!

best,
Kartik.

Diversity...

 By: Dave G : January 10th, 2014-01:43
Cleaning up some hard drive photos and came across this one of some of my collection from quite a few years ago. Happily they are all still with me and each one of these pieces brings me joy. For both of brands present in this shot, I think these models i...

Definitely, Ulysse Nardin is the Champion of Creativity

And your collection sums it perfectly. I don't see any other brand ( JLC, maybe? ) which shows such imagination, Madness and creativity. Awesome collection, my dear friend. Best, Nicolas

Agree on JLC...

Especially around the technical diversity, maybe less so than UN in terms of the "creative time telling" certainly compared to the Freak. Here are some of my JLC pieces without my Reversos...which certainly are different than all the round pieces. ...

It should be some kind of warning in title

For me, diversity is a very big part of what makes a collection. I know that when I buy a watch, i consider not only the watch itself but also how the watch fits into my overall collection. Its funny, you major on two brands. I do something similar but ac...

Very nice! Which ones may I pick? ...

... I think that this collection nicely illustrates the virtues of both manufacturers, and also represents the two opposite positions in current watchmaking: Patek with its approach to perfect the traditional virtues of watchmaking, with hand-applied and ...

UN is the brand that has fueled most of my obsession over the past 15 years. I had an early Marine Chronometre @ 38mm, but it was a purchase of the original Freak in the first months of release in 2001 that set me down the path to more high end pieces. In...

That's a really nice collection

You don't seem to enjoy brown straps, though… Best, Radone

Actually Radone, I do,

It is the 42mm PSM Resilience. I looked at this watch for about a year and finally bought one. It is a very pretty watch with the enamel dial. My hesitation was around two things: 1) Long term servicing and 2) Size. With respect to servicing I reconciled ...

This picture knocked me down and raised a legitimate question: how do you decide which watch to wear in the morning? Is it a simple process? Do you have wrist favorites and, as a consequence, watches that you do not wear in months? Many thanks! R

Actually,

Like others describe in posts occasionally, tastes evolve over time considerably and eventually I'll consolidate somewhat. I do wear all my pieces but some get minimal use as they aren't as attractive to me as they were 10+ years ago. I just rarely divest...

I am afraid to ask this

 By: Spellbound : January 10th, 2014-09:23
I am afraid to ask this for fear of seeing another photo of 30 watches we haven't seen yet.... Only round watches then? (Aside from the Gondolo in the first pic). No cushions, tonneau's, squares? Exquisite taste, Dean

LOL...I fear

That I may never get a full group shot. I took the large group photo this past summer in the USA with the pieces there. There is another group in Hong Kong. Of course 3 or 4 pieces go between the two places during my frequent trips and so the groups shift...
