Show your rectangular, tonneau or square watches.

 By: fernando : April 29th, 2009-05:12
They may not be as well accepted as round watches but in certain periods they were very popular and gave birth to classics like the Cartier Tank and JLC Reverso.Would like to hear about other examples and variations on this theme.Lets show some of them of...

SQUARES ETC

Thanks Fernando Please see my latest post.

That's a particularly nice Reverso . . .

 By: Dr No : April 29th, 2009-08:36
. . . and I'm curious about the 2554 - are there two different watches pictured, perhaps in different metals? Admiringly, Art

Did I miss something, Fernando?

 By: amanico : April 29th, 2009-06:52
Don't tell me you just got this one, my friend... You know that I'm hunting this Platinum Cabaret with the black dial. To make the perfect trio. Well, I'm not unhappy with this beautiful 70eme: Best, Nicolas...

Aaah, I forgot,

 By: amanico : April 29th, 2009-06:57
Round Ovale case: JLC Ref E 877 ( Memovox Cal 916 ). Best, Nicolas...

Do you have more pics

 By: Geo : April 29th, 2009-09:19
It's very nice, but in this shot it's hard to see that it is oval. Never seen the watch, Geo

More than pics, Géo

 By: amanico : April 29th, 2009-12:30
A Review. Click here, my friend: jlc.watchprosite.com Best, Nicolas

Yes, I just got it Nicolas.

 By: fernando : April 29th, 2009-07:04
Didn't know you have been hunting it. Maybe the next piece to come along? It's heavy though but exquisite. Best Fernando

More than the weight, I would rather speak of " Density ", Fernando

 By: amanico : April 29th, 2009-07:34
For this lovely piece. The density of the platinum is perfect on watches of modest size. It is surprising, but very pleasant to feel its density on the wrist between your hands. Will have to wait, then... Best, my friend. Nicolas

Yes, density is the appropriate word. [nt]

Nicholas, I need to tell you again that this is a fantastic piece

 By: ArthurSG : April 29th, 2009-07:56
IMO, probably the best spokes piece for JLC.

At least, one of the nicest, indeed

 By: amanico : April 29th, 2009-08:06
Don't have an eye on the Gyro I, the Reveros Platinum tourbillon skeleton, the Duo Metre, and a few others, or you will dangerously fall in love, my friend. best, Nicolas

Allen, I fear to ask

Your pesronal collection? Best, Nicolas

Unfortunately, not mine

 By: amanico : April 29th, 2009-08:45
Indeed a great time! Best, Nicolas

Let me add these two utterly exquisite Reversos . . .

Very nice that grey dial, wow this is a superb topic

 By: Geo : April 29th, 2009-09:04
for someone that's not into rounds. Geo

My predilection for rectangular watches . . .

 By: Dr No : April 29th, 2009-09:33
. . . is difficult to explain, Geo. I think part of the reason is that round forms are subliminally expansive, so while I feel comfortable wearing my vintage round watches, there's a finite limit beyond which I feel a round watch is out of proportion with...

Nice!!!

 By: Allen : April 29th, 2009-09:05

What a stunning collection of Cartiers, Geo!

 By: Allen : April 29th, 2009-09:12
I love that last one the most. So you don't have ANY round Cartier at all?

Thanks Allen

 By: Geo : April 29th, 2009-09:15
No, I do have a few round ones like the Pasha and the Rotonde. But Cartier is really famous for their square and rectangle models. Geo

One aspect of Omega's history that I find mystifying . . .

 By: Dr No : April 29th, 2009-09:42
. . . is my perception of the community's lack of interest in their form watches. Are there any on your wish-list, Kurt? Cordially, Art

If you mean the lack of popular rectangular case Omegas

 By: mrsnak : May 2nd, 2009-18:17
I really liked the simplicity of that (pricey) Kennedy reissue, but would much rather have the vintage. There were some gorgeous rectangular/square cased watches they did in the 10s -50s. This message has been edited by mrsnak on 2009-05-02 18:25:32
