Baselworld 2015: Girard-Perregaux 1966 Guilloché dial

By: blomman Mr Blue : February 21st, 2015-01:28
Girard-Perregaux unveils a new reinterpretation of its iconic Girard-Perregaux 1966 watch, with an 18K pink gold case featuring an exclusive guilloch dial. This mechanical watchmaking and aesthetic wonder is offered in both a mens and ladies version. C...

Typically what I feel about dates, here.

A nice work on the dial, spoiled by the date, which is too centered, therefore. The dial is superb on the jewelled version. But I prefer the non jewelled case. Best, Nicolas

The dial is magic! :)

But here, I can't argue with you about the date.... But look at the rest of the dial - MAGIC! :) Will post some thoughts and more live shots of these two soon. Best Blomman ...

I also think

the change of the seconds hand to gold takes some charme away. I love the blued seconds hand. I probably would have kept the Guilloche exclusive to the Ladies model.

Because all brand marketing teams will tell you that

95 % of the market want a date... Which I more and more doubt about... Best, Nicolas

Its not true,,,the trouble is...

 By: moc : February 21st, 2015-05:01
lack of taste and imagination in the majority of the brands teams, too often just concentrated on middle management and marketing..... no one gives a damn about the date, but "playing safe"is the rule.......bah! Mo

I think Purists and people with more ....

By: blomman Mr Blue : February 21st, 2015-03:42
Than one or two watches are more concerned about the esthetic and design of a watch than people with only one or two watches... For most people it is more important having the date functions than the keeping the dial intact. But I do agree, this one would...

At least for the enamel and guilloche dial

GP should have offered without a date, I think. Best Albert

As far as I know, there was one.

 By: Albert.J : February 21st, 2015-04:10
Although it is now discontinued. (Oh, but this one was offered without a date. Sorry for the mistake!) Best Albert ...

;) No problems, Albert. [nt]

While reading your post, my wife saw the pictures. Her immediate reaction was: "beautiful, I want it". What's the thickness of the ladies model? I think I perhaps found the next Xmas present. Best, Kari

Bad luck or great timing...?! ;)

By: blomman Mr Blue : February 21st, 2015-04:26
The diameter is 30 mm, I don't have the exact thickness, would guess around 7-8 mm. It would make an excellent X-mas gift! :) Best Blomman ...

I agree!

My wife has already 6 Patek, 2 JLC, Breguet, 2 Rolex, Zenith and I don't really know what. She has thought for a longer time about a RG watch and this GP looks like the right choice. It's even of the right side. Xmas present found - now I just need to fin...

Not sure, will check...
