First baby steps into the vintage world of Girard-Perregaux
By: blomman Mr Blue : May 28th, 2013-13:29
Hello Girard-Perregaux fans, A newbie here taking his first trembling steps into the brand! If I understand correctly GP started to make the Gyromatic model in the beginning of 1950. 1951 Many different shapes and models have been produced under the name ...
Excellent catch, my friend. Mine welcomes yours.
By: amanico : May 28th, 2013-13:34
All original as well, except the minute hand, but I found the solution... There are not many Vintage GP I am considering, maybe 5 or 6, but each of them is very dear to my heart. Congratulations on such a nice catch! Best, Nicolas ...
you will have to find one which comes with ...

The inverted applied arrows... Not impossible, but not easy. I do like a lot the one featured on the ad, 39 jewels, round one. That was what I was looking for, initially, but when i fell on this one, well, I just couldn't resist. Best! Nicolas
Not impossible, but not easy...

That GP exhibits very nice, balanced features, but also intrinsic values, it appears. ( Here speaks a total newbie to GP, though..) ;) Reminds me on the art of more being, than show-off. Happy for you, mighty Viking ! Best, hs :)
Yes, a bit...

Only Q remaining maybe .. Good or "bad" boy in school ? ;)

.. but as happeb to know you, you might be a good scholar & pupil, but a very naughty boy.. So , your knowledge will skyrocket pretty quickly, AFAIK, based on your JLC, Rolex and else history ! :) best, hs

You need to visit Argentina. There is a flea market there, San Telmo, where I saw dozens of Gyromatic watches. Congratulations. GP has a very interesting story and the Olimpico line has chronographs to die for. Cheers, Nilo
Never been to South America...
By: blomman Mr Blue : May 28th, 2013-23:35
But would love to go! Thank you, Nilo - yes, a lot to discover here! :) Best Blomman

Very nice looking example, and, if my experience is a reasonable guide, I expect that you will find the accuracy (once serviced) to be excellent. Cheers, Tony C.

Finding a gold Chronometer HF is pretty special. Is it a Calibre 32A? The coin edge bezel is unique to the gold Ref 8795s
A great catch

One day I hope you will be able to find an Observatory model like mine with both tags, both boxes and all papers. I found a set and it is the highlight of my collection.
