Hi kari, can you show pics of the bracelet for comparison?

I agree with your solution. Thinner bracelet for the ultra thin royal oak.

I got my new 15202 RO. A wonderful watch BUT

 By: dr.kol : January 22nd, 2015-21:44
I bought also a little bit earlier a new RO QP, the last model. But when I started to compare the bracelets, those looked the same but were like night and day. The thickness of the perpetual bracelet measured from the (single) folding clasp is 4.2 mm whil...

I made the deal half an hour ago

and I am ashamed! It's a new watch but "because of the shortage of those and the increase of the value of Swiss Franc", I agreed to pay a (relatively) small premium. Patek has made acquiring 5711 so difficult that "I have a funny feeling". Best, Kari

you're not crazy at all!!

I think that the new 15202 is naturally caving in to the 'thick' watch trend of the last 15 years... Which is contrary to what the Jumbo DNA is about. I agree with your choice of comfort entirely!!

The difference between the old and new bracelet is huge.

 By: dr.kol : January 23rd, 2015-06:50
At the same time to get the old one "as a spare part" is also costing a stupid amount of money. Still I will order it because it makes my 15202 a step nicer. Best, Kari

Congrats on the watch!

I surely agree there is a difference in the bracelets, though I love how my 15202 fits and feels. I like it slightly more robust for my daily use. When I am ready for the real deal, I'll add a 5402.

I have been looking for an A-series 5402

with box & papers for some time now. Seems to be very very difficult or impossible and at least very very expensive. I am not a watch collector, period. Thus, 15202 with the right bracelet is at least as good for me as the finest possible 5402. Or at ...

Hi kari, can you show pics of the bracelet for comparison?

I agree with your solution. Thinner bracelet for the ultra thin royal oak.

I will take some pictures tomorrow

and post them. I love my Royal Oak and when the watch is "ready" I will write a post. So please do not misunderstand me: I have studied the watch now for a week side-by-side with Patek Nautilus. I think RO 15202 wins when comparing the movement with the m...

Thanks for the pics kari

Great comparison. I think the main reason you feel its thicker is because of the double clasp. But bracelet aside its not much thicker i think. The million dollar question if to choose only one, the 5711 or the 15202? Congratualtions on having both by the...

THE MILLION DOLLARS QUESTION HAS ONLY

 By: dr.kol : January 25th, 2015-00:31
one correct answer: choose the one you like more. Royal Oak 15202 is: - closer to the original watch including case construction - has a more interesting movement - can be customised with a special oscillating weight - has perhaps a more interesting case ...

You've hit it on the head, sir!

 By: Esharp : January 25th, 2015-22:24
Kari, Thank you for this...after all, as you know, it's the major decision I'm currently trying to make. Your assessment is spot-on, as I see it. But you speak with the benefit of ownership of these pieces - and of several of each, the new 15202 and the Q...

Think positively:

 By: dr.kol : January 26th, 2015-10:24
If you choose 5711, you made the right decision. If you choose 15202, you made the right decision. All you need to do later is to acquire the missing one! Best, Kari

Here is a quick picture of the thickness of clasps

 By: dr.kol : January 24th, 2015-07:59
This is an interesting journey. I have been wearing a full day my 15202 and actually it feels very good... Best, Kari ...

Good shot Kari.

There is no denying what the photo shows. However, I find supreme comfort in my modern 15202's clasp. In December, I tried on a perfect 5402 A series. Surely the supple feel of that old bracelet and clasp cannot be matched by my watch. However, it does no...

I will try to learn to the new clasp.

 By: dr.kol : January 24th, 2015-09:05
I guess the point is that the new clasp is better for a slim wrist - something like below 190 mm. But for normal wrist, 200 mm / 8 inches and above, the single folding clasp is perfect! Lol. Best, kari

This picture shows clearly the difference in thickness

 By: dr.kol : January 24th, 2015-09:19
There is also quite a difference in the flexibility. Best, Kari ...

and I try to be more accurate by using an example: The bracelet of the new 15202 is like a perfect seat of a perfect sports car. But when sitting to the earlier model of the same car, one finds that the earlier seat feels even better than the new one. In ...

I would not know that

 By: MichaelC : January 25th, 2015-09:31
Based upon how clearly you have worded your posts. I definitely follow, and agree. I find my 15202's clasp and bracelet superbly comfortable. If, however, I had on an older style, the difference would be apparent.

The new bracelet is thicker than the previous 15202.

 By: JerryW : January 23rd, 2015-21:06
I am crazy enough to have both versions. While I like the sleekness of the thinner bracelet I find the newer version with the double clasp much more comfortable on my wrist. I never really liked the AP initialed single clasp, it just never fit my wrist qu...

Congratulations Kari

I see you've been moving on with those 2 very appealing cousins. I like your approach of a kind of "best of the 2 worlds" scenario. I would just verify the thinner bracelet fits the lugs' thickness in a way we don't see a "step" from the side. I also like...

Thanks Mark

 By: dr.kol : January 25th, 2015-10:10
AP is studying if the old bracelet will fit to the new 15202 and next week I should get the opinion of the factory. I also thought about the "step issue" immediately. Best, Kari

324 finishing

 By: Esharp : January 25th, 2015-22:26
Mark, This is a very interesting counterpoint - what is it on the PP cal. 324's finishing that appeals to you? Of course this is the wrong forum but one hears very little about the 324...so impressions would be interesting. Oh, of course I've looked at a ...

Hi E. Well, as you did I just saw several 324, 3120 and 2120 calibers while trying some watches at ADs and took a little time looking at the finishing, with my naked eye mainly, under strong lightings usually. What I like in the 324 is mainly aesthetical ...
