In many sports there is a term for a well played game – a “Perfect Game”.
A team or a player that achieve something extra ordinary!
I was wondering if this term would be applicable on vintage watch collecting.
Is it? I don’t know…
But here is my attempt for a “Perfect Game”!
My game started many years ago…
I stumbled on a watch that in many aspects was “totally wrong” for me.
First; Lecoultre, at this point I preferred Jaeger-LeCoultre as I didn’t really think that LeCoultre was real JLC’s.
Ignorance from my part – luckily we learn, we evolve
Second; Small, with a diameter of 34mm it was too small for my normal interest at this time.
I was young and wanted my watches to be big and bold – we grow older, we changes.
Third; Gold plated, I like solid metal, stainless steel is preferred.
I still do prefer SS material but are warming up to more precious metals.
OK, lest start play – the watch I stumble upon and caught my interest was the Memovox Ref 3041.
What made me interested was of course that the watch has the Memovox function and the absolute perfect condition of the watch!
I used the watch for several years without thinking much about it more then a “nice watch”.
Then I learned more about LeCoultre and realized this is not just a nice watch…
Lot knowledge gathered from this forum – thank you ALL for helping a newbie learn more!
I started to hunt accessories for my watch.
So what do you need for a “Perfect Game”?
First you need to find the box.
Then you need the paperwork.
What proved to be the most difficult was to find an original strap and buckle.
All together it becomes a “Perfect Game”?!
I want to mention that I have no proof of this being the right box or paper for the Ref 3041, but it is as close as I have been able to find out so far.
If anyone knows more about the LeCoultre history, please chip in!
Best
