Tribute To Deep Sea Alarm: The Press File.
By: amanico : January 12th, 2011-00:01
Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea : a re-edition in tribute to the legend of diver’s watches There are some watches that leave an indelible trace on our collective memory because they have written a page in history. The Memovox Deep Sea, the first diver’s watch...

By: amanico : January 13th, 2011-07:38
That is a fantastic way to describe the TT DSA, Neil. Couldn't put it better. The Polaris and the Deep Sea Alarm don't play, in my opinion, in the same category, if we speak about functionality and aesthetics. They are not competitors, they complement eac...

Alarm based on minutes or hours
By: melnor : January 12th, 2011-00:08
Is the alarm based on the minute hand position, which is useful for diving, or based on the hour hand position?
I think the question was....
By: Zsolt : January 12th, 2011-01:52
...which hand triggers the alarm? On the normal Memovox's I believe it is the hour hand, but on a diving watch it should be the minute hand.... It would be much easier and more accurate to adjust the dive time (normally around 45-60 minutes) if it was act...
Yes
By: melnor : January 12th, 2011-02:22
Yes, thats exactly what I meant. I'll assume that the minute hand will trigger the alarm.
Hm, I still don't get it...
By: nikolaj : January 13th, 2011-09:57
I believe that the original question in this thread was whether the alarm is triggered once every hour (i.e. when the minute hand reaches the alarm triangle as opposed to the hour hand in all memovoxes including the original DSA). This would IMO (as I als...
These protos of the DSA weren't working, BUT, as on the TTP
By: amanico : January 13th, 2011-11:49
The Hour hand, when moved backwards above the alarm triangle, carries it away. But I still don't see the " link " with the setting of the diving time... Best, Borat. This message has been edited by amanico on 2011-01-13 11:49:46
He he, we're speaking in different directions...
By: nikolaj : January 13th, 2011-17:51
I am not talking about how to set the alarm - but rather what releases it. On all other memovoxes (to my knowledge), the alarm triangle is set to point at 3 o'clock if you want the alarm to go off a 3 o'clock (i.e. when the hour hand is aligned with the a...
I think you have probably answerd the original question...
By: Zsolt : January 13th, 2011-18:17
...as I am 99% sure that this watch has the same alarm function as the other JLC alarm watches, like the Polaris (alarm activated by the hour hand). Unfortunately this function is not useful for diving, as you can't set the dive time accurately on them......

Actually the bezel on the proto is correct
By: Clavi : January 13th, 2011-04:06
Hi Blomman Actually, the bezel which is on the prototypes is very correct, as both 'square' and 'round' numbers have existed (2 variations of the bezel on the original DSA) Most of the (few) original DSA that we see on the internet and that have surfaced ...
Agreed on the " not squared " numbers, Clavi.
By: amanico : January 13th, 2011-07:50
Less than the " square " one, but they indeed existed. Also agreed on the grey redone bezels. Thanks for your input, and opinion on these TT DSAs. Best, Nicolas.
Hi Clavi
By: blomman Mr Blue : January 13th, 2011-12:47

Correct insert on your EU
By: Clavi : January 14th, 2011-00:37

Yes, a more correct inlay would be great!
By: blomman Mr Blue : January 15th, 2011-15:45

Happy to know that you loved it ( which one, by the way? ) so much that you already ordered it. It seems that many of us will get at least one. Now, the question is: Will it become another Community Watch, such as the TTP? Best, Marc. Nicolas.
Good Job JLC

Great post! Thanks Nicholas.
By: rovermark : January 12th, 2011-00:22
I think JLC has another hit on their hands. First the Rverso 1931, now the Deep Sea Alarm...I wonder what else they have in store for SIHH.

Wow...a pair of breathtaking beauties.
By: Goh : January 12th, 2011-00:28
And the first modern LeCoultre! Wonderfully sized. I like that it is thinner than the TTP too. Thanks for the informative post, really impossible to chose one over the other. Best, Goh
Yes, the Lecoultre dial is a great thing, Goh.
By: amanico : January 13th, 2011-12:50
I love a lot the fact that JLC accepted to sign just LeCoultre on the dial. It would have been historically weird to see JLC on the dial. An excellent point for JLC, and even a double one, with the name Reverso signed on the TT 1931! Best, Nicolas.
Unbelievable….

That is an interesting point, Ruckdee.
By: amanico : January 13th, 2011-12:56
If JLC opted for only one DSA, can you imagine how deceived the fans of the other versions would be? I am firmly convinced that the decision to release both of them is THE good one. This is a happy day, for a lot of us, obviously. Best, Nicolas.
Oh I agree with you totally that this is the best way to go.
By: Ruckdee : January 13th, 2011-15:02
Everybody is happy. And to the delight of true collectors and the dismay of finicky buyers like myself, the crystal is not sapphire. Let's say I am happy for those who value faithfulness to the original. I really am. But sadly plexy is not for me. That is...
Yes. I have a strict no plexy policy because...

By: RJW : January 12th, 2011-00:59

I'm with you on this one, Robert -- USA all the way!
By: craniotes : January 12th, 2011-07:40
Really, what an incredible homage to the original. JLC gets a ton of credit for resisting the urge to go overboard with "improvements" here. That said, I'll have to sit this one out, since there are a couple of other pieces ahead of the DSA in the queue. ...

An obviously best response ... The two watches look stunning and everytime i prefer one above the other, soon the other gets my attention and vice versa ... . Both executions are great-looking overall ... if only i had some fundings ... .... . filip

hail to Plexi!
By: tictactimes : January 12th, 2011-21:50
watches with thick plexi like this are a dream to wear. there is an incredible appeal to the reflection that the plexi gives. in our days of sapphire everywhere, it is very pleasant to see that there is still room for high end watches with plexi.
Yabadabadoooo!
