5 years ago I had the huge pleasure to take the moderation of the Jaeger-LeCoultre forum here right before the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Reverso. The party held in the gardens of the Rodin museum remains for many as one the greatest watch related parties ever.
You can easily imagine the pleasure I had to receive an invitation for the 80th anniversary, as a Reverso fan myself. I knew that would be a great party and a fantastic opportunity to see many friends.
A few days before I left for Paris the excitation increased when I learnt that my Tribute to Deep Sea was arrived at the Paris boutique.
So this time the party took place in the superb building of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, both in and out in fact. We were happy to be out sometimes as the temperature was exceeding 30° Celsius.
Obviously you just had to walk for seconds before being welcomed by friends. Not yet even in and already having fun!
There were three kinds of people to meet that night. Obviously the many friends from Jaeger-LeCoultre come first. The fellow PuristS and watch fans were numerous too. The attending movie stars from France and the rest of the world added some glamour to the event.
Yves Meylan and Guillain Maspetiol
As you can imagine the party was « grandiose » and there was no reason to remind the world around us. These times are not just the times of excess but also the times of fun and serenity we all wish to live more often.
Shortly after getting in I had the pleasure to meet my friend Jerome Favier from JLC and to discover him accompanied by a man I was pleased and honoured to meet.
If you don't know him google his name!
Of course I was also quite pleased to see once again Diane Kruger the Jaeger-LeCoultre muse and international actress. She was accompanied by her fiancé Joshua Jackson. The elegant muse certainly helps rejuvenating the old lady.
The most impressive attending actress was the world reknowned Catherine Deneuve. I had had the chance to cross her path 15 years ago and this great time was still vivid in my memory. She is well and long known for her Jaeger-LeCoultre taste and apparently owns several vintage pieces. A presence at this party was clearly justified and greatly appreciated.
Another actress impressed me, this time for her limitless beauty. Vahina Giocante is turning 30, well today the 30th of June!
Happy birthday Miss Giocante! You'll haunt my dreams for long!
Fortunately Janek Deleskievicz the artistic director of Jaeger-LeCoultre tried his best (and did very well) with his friends and saxophone to helps us forget (for a while) the very beautiful girls around us! A man of many talents!
Sometimes you also meet friends and stars and here I found my friend Julie from Jaeger-LeCoultre France. But with whom?
Well Julie was certainly hearing a funny story exchanged by two very funny French actors.
You may not know him but this man is a well known French actor and a man that seemingly remained very simple in his life. Richard Anconina is one of those great actors of my youth.
In the end I may admit that if I saw many stars of my early days, I also admired on Tuesday night many stars in her early days.
In fact there were so many friends and fascinating people attending that the only regret after the night was that it was too short to see everybody, to discuss with all. I stayed only 5 hours!
Mr Lambert and your team thanks a lot for this great party. The old lady is still alive, and young!
See you soon !
Cheers
